To the best of my knowledge, right turns on red are permitted after a full stop (unless otherwise posted) in all 50 states with the notable exception of New York City.

Of course when you're driving in NYC, you're lucky if you can make a right turn on green :rotfl:

It's legal in PA too.

It's also legal in PA if you're on a one way street and turning onto another one way street to turn left at a red light.

Want to see something screwed up, in MI we have a MI left. Basically you cannot make a left turn at a busy intersection you go past the intersection into a left turn lane and make the left about 1/4 mile past the light. And you can make that left on a red light after stopping! If they can find a way to screw something up they will do it.
I soooooooooooo do not get this and I do sometimes drive in MI. :confused3
If I drive past the street I want and have to turn left 1/4 mile away how the heck do I ever get where I'm going?

ETA:
I looked up MI driving laws and left on red only applies when one-way streets are involved.

I do not think it is legal in NJ though, but I am not 100% sure. I remember it coming up in Driver's ED way back. Hopefully someone from NJ posts.....

yep, Its Legal in Jersey also unless posted.

tn is legal too. I thought it was legal everywhere? :confused3 learn something new every day

Right turns on red are cool, as are left turns when turning from a one way street on to another one way street. :)

It is legal in Florida. U-Turns are legal everywhere unless posted otherwise. That took some getting used to.

I think "no turn on red" is mainly found in major cities like NYC. As you enter the city, you'll see a sign telling you that right on red is illegal. And when you think about it, it makes sense in a city like that.
