Right Now in Central Florida. WOW!

I wasn't going to mow the lawn tonight because of the heat but then I figured it probably won't be getting a lot cooler until, say, October.

So when I pulled the mower out of the garage, I could hear thunder and I saw this.

Pretty cool but time to mow.

Just as I was finishing, I took one more look skyward and, Holy Cow! I couldn't believe what was up there. I think I even uttered the Holy something or other out loud.

I've seen these sundogs before but never like this. It was unbelievably bright. The wispy clouds in the last photo finally covered it but what a sight.

ETA: Before they'd loaded up (I'm on dial-up), I was expecting lightning and was wonderin' why on earth you were out mowing in such weather. Glad to see that was not the case.

Isn't there some kind of legend, or folktale associated with sundogs? I read a book a couple of years ago called "A Sundog Moment" I can't remember all the details, but it was very good, about a woman who had MS. I have never seen a sundog, and couldn't picture one in my mind, thanks for posting the picture!

Those pictures are absolutely beautiful. I had never heard of Sundogs and I feel ashamed to admit it, but if I saw that in the sky I would be a bit nervous wondering what the heck it was.
