After you get on the ship and get sorted, what is the first thing that you do? :D

Drop my luggage off in the room - even if they aren't quite done, I ask permission from the host/hostess and leave my carryon. Then I go to Dining Room Changes (have to get my favorite server!), Palo reservations for dinner and brunch, and Spa reservations (in that order). If there is enough time, I take care of registering Michael at the Club. Then I get my food (usually at Parrot Cay) and relax!!

But it's all dependent upon what you consider is a priority and if you are able to relax before getting your reservations in. I have done the REAS once and it was a lot more restful to know that everything was done ahead of time.

We went straight up to the 9th floor and the kids changed into their suits and went on the Mickey slide a couple of times and then DH and I got trays of food and then they swam and we played ping pong for awhile. We kept running into people with lime green mickey heads and were sitting right behind one of them with his family. It was great! Hard to believe that a week ago I was sitting on the deck with a drink in one hand and a book in the other relaxing..............now I am doing laundry and getting things ready for reality tomorrow. Boohoo!

Well usually, I try to meet up with cast members who are friends of mine. Walk up to deck 9 for dis meet and sail away party and start snacking away. I n less then 2 weeks I am off to paradise on the Magic! YAY:cool1:

I was in vacation mode the minute I got on the DCL bus at the airport, and stayed that way until the bus dropped us back off at the airport 7 days later.
We walked on the ship and ate and relaxed.
We weren't doing Palo, The Spa, or the Kids Clubs.....so we didn't even have to worry about reservations. Even without doing any of the above, we had so much to do we never did get a chance to swim or see everything on the ship. We did stumble over to Guest Services on Sunday and made a Wine Tasting reservation....there were plenty of openings left.

Before we left home I sorted out the dressier clothes that would need to be ironed and put them into their own suitcase. The 1st thing I did after getting into our room was put them all in the laundry bag and hand them to the room steward. I got back them all back ironed and hung in about 2 hours and it cost me about $40.00 but not having to visit the iron all week was priceless.

As soon as we get onboard I go make Palo reservations, make sure that we have a table just for our family and not having to share our table with others...then to the spa and then to the kids club to register while its still pretty empty and then go eat. They try to send you right to eat first thing but we kuje ti get the other things over with and then its all relaxing from there. I don't bring a carry on so nothing to lug aronud with me. Last time we went to Parrot Cay and they told us they were full and we had to go to topsiders but I did not want to go to topsiders, I hated the first time on the first cruise trying to find a seat with a traty full of food so we just told them we would wait...they said "well its going to be 45 minutes" I said fine we will wait ... we were seated within 5 minutes!!

We go to make reservations for Palo's, then we go get the kids registered in the kids club, then Parrot Cay for a yummy lunch, then pool for the kids, during that time my husband generally goes back to the room to drop his bag, and unpack wahterver suitcase have shone up, in the meantime I enjoy my first "drink of the day".......

Actually, DCL used to let you get to cabins to drop off carryons but have really cracked down on this....they actually rope off sections so you cannot get to your cabin. I believe the reasoning for this was many cabin doors stay propped open while they are being cleaned and the cabin stewards did not want to be resonsible for missing things....think of it...it is a big responsibility.....if anything turned up missing....they would be the first ones to blame. Not all cabins will be ready at the exact same time (until the posted time) so many doors will be propped open at once. I also think that time is taken away from getting the rooms ready when guests are in the way!

If you beg and plead with a CM they may let you down the hall but they have been very strict lately with this. You really do not have your carryon bags with you that long...maybe an hour at most and part of that time is sitting down at lunch.

oh well, its no biggie! we'll just sit & eat & eat till the room is ready- that way the only thing we will have to lug around is our full bellies :)

They have roped them off before, but I just go over to the room and put it near the verandah door. Generally, the host/hostess if close by and doesn't get upset over it. I have also spoken to their supervisor and for people who are handicapped, elderly, etc, certain allowances are made.

After all, aren't rules made to be broken?!
