DH and I (and our boys) have never been to US/IOA before, but we're planning to make our first trip in 2010.

DH and I are FAR FROM being coaster experts, so we're a bit.....concerned about the intensity of the coasters there and if we can handle them without having heart attacks.:goodvibes

The coasters with inversions that we've been on several times (and most likely so have you) and loved are:

*Rock-n-Roller Coaster
*California Screamin' (At Disneyland's California Adventure Park)
*The Roller Coaster (at New York New York Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas) I put a link in for you if you want to read about it. http://www.nynyhotelcasino.com/entertainment/entertainment_therollercoaster.aspx

So, do you think the Hulk and Dueling Dragons and that new coaster being built are way out of our league? Are the current coasters at US/IOA way more intense than the previous coasters we've been on?.......less intense?......about the same intensity?

(Also, we've never been on a coaster where our feet are dangling below us because there's no floor in the ride vehicle. Does that add a huge element of intensity? Does it feel weird? Is looks like it would be disorienting to a degree.)

California Screamin is a great coaster. I think if you enjoyed it, you can do all the other coasters. The launch is similar to the launch at Hulk and the inversions from RNR gives you an idea of all the inversions on the IOA coasters. I wouldn't worry about the fact that dueling dragons are inverted coasters (hanging). It doesn't make that much of a difference in the intensity level.

You'll be fine.

The Roller Coaster (Vegas) was one of the ROUGHEST coasters I'd been on. If you can handle that, you can handle Hulk/Dueling Dragons--they're a lot smoother, imo.

Great, this is good to know!:thumbsup2

Those US/IOA coasters seem so intimidating. Maybe because they're very visible.....and HUGE looking? I really don't know the reason why, but they look more intimidating than the other coasters we've been on. They do look really cool though!

The Roller Coaster is the only coaster so far that I was really nervous/scared to ride.....in particular during the long, slow climb up before the first drop. After that, I thought it was a blast. But yes, it is a little rough.

The roughest I've been on though is the Corkscrew at Silverwood themepark (in north Idaho). It's a short, short coaster, but boy is it rough. It gives me a headache everytime I ride it.

Fire is my favorite ride at IOA...I'm sure the HR3 will be # 1 on my list when it opens. :teeth:
