Can you just walk up and ride these or do you have to make reservations or something? We're planning on doing this in September; any other tips we should know about riding it? or reviews from someone who has ridden in the amphicars?

Unless they have changed it, you can just walk up and buy tickets to ride. Up to three passengers per car. The price is per car, not per person. If you are a passholder there is a small discount, or at least there was when I went a couple of years ago. It's pricey but fun as a splurge.

You go to the gift shop register at Boathouse to pay and sign the release. Then if there is not a lot of people, they send you over to the CMs at the loading area. When I rode, they sent us right over. I went back into the shop to buy some pictures after and they were starting to back up so were taking cell phones to send text to people as they were able to head over when it was their turn.

The cars fit either 3 adults, 1 up front and 2 in the back or 2 adults and 2 kids, 1 adult up front and 1 adult and 2 kids in back. I think if there is a lap kid, they may let 3 kids in back with the 1 adult. Be prepared to fill like you are riding in a parade and for your picture to be taken frequently. Any time we were near the walkways for guests, we were constantly waving and seeing people taking pictures.

I really enjoyed doing this in March and plan to do this again on any future trips that I have time to do it. It just was a fun experience.

We did this on our anniversary in 2015, and it was a lot of fun. We first ate at The Boathouse, and then we walked right up to purchase a ride. We did have to wait a little as there were other people ahead of us, but we enjoyed watching as others got launched into the water. And yes, you do feel like you are in a parade. Just smile and wave!

Awesome! Thank you guys all for the information. My husband and I almost did this on the spur of the moment last time we were there, but it was too expensive. This time we've saved up, and can't wait. I didn't know they took pictures! Gonna be awesome! :)

We did this last year and it was worth the price! Very relaxing and you will definitely be the center of attention while you are riding!

they have a sale now. If you show a receipt for $50 worth of shopping or food purchases made that day they give you $25 off.
