Riding Soarin'

A few years back my family and I went on the Soarin' ride. Now, this was a minor miracle that they got me to agree to this because I'm terrified of heights. By luck of our place in line we were in the bottom row and weren't as high up as those in the other rows. We will be going again in October and I'm sure my family will want to go on Soarin' again. Being that I actually enjoyed the ride last time I am open to it. Assuming the new Soarin' will have the 3 rows like before, if we ask to be on the bottom row do you think they will accommodate that? Is the top row much different than the bottom row? I know with the bottom row (and I'm assuming the middle row), we saw feet hanging down in front of us, but it didn't really bother any of us. TIA!

Yes you can request a row for your flight and they will "try" to accommodate.

Request "B1"-that is the prime row.

Being on the highest row is nice, because you don't see other peoples feet dangling in front of you, and it just feels like you truly are flying. You can always request a row, and I think if you mention you are a little nervous about the height they will accommodate you. I'm certain the new Soarin' will be have the same seating, and it is just the movie/music that is being changed.

I imagine that most people who request a certain row will ask for the top row, I know we have and the CM has always accommodated us. I see no problem at all with asking for the bottom row especially if you tell the CM you are afraid of heights.

I had never realized before how high the top row of Soarin' actually is until I looked down once. It's really up there! The lower row isn't nearly as high, and if you request it I'm sure they will try to accommodate. I think most people probably request the top center, which might require them to wait an extra cycle. I think they fill by top, middle, bottom though, so requesting bottom shouldn't be too much trouble.

This is what my plan is next time. I, too, am scared of heights, and never thought about it when riding it the first time. We were in the top row, and as I sat there looking at the screen and how high it was, I knew that I was going to be nervous. I didn't enjoy it too much as I was just focused on not freaking out. My family likes it, and I know I'll be fine, so I'd ride it even if they can't, but I too was also thinking about doing this next time.

i'm also scared of heights, but i'm usually ok with Soarin' so long as i'm looking straight at the screen. That said, you shouldn't have a problem getting the bottom row, and your'e really not that high up there. good luck!

The only difference between the top row and the bottom row is that you can see feet in the bottom row. The best bottom row seats should be b3 and Disney willing to accommodate, but you may have to wait longer.

We were in the top row during our trip in December, and I had a terrifying panic attack. On a previous trip, we were not in the top row and I enjoyed Soarin a lot. I have to conclude the terror was from being in the top row and being so high up. I am thinking about riding it to see the new film when we are there in October, but I will only try it in the bottom row.

My sister is also scared of heights, but she does fine on Soarin' no matter where we sit.

I was at Disneyland in June and asked to be in the bottom row, and they accommodated us. This helped me a lot, I'm terrified of heights where my feet dangle.

Oh yeah they'll accommodate you. You maybe to wait a cycle though.

My DH is very particular about his Soarin' placement. He has to have B1 every time. We just request it from the CM, and he/she will tell us right where to wait. We often have to wait an extra cycle, but we've never had our request denied.

Im not afraid of heights but for some reason I had a panic attack last september on this ride. Rode it before a few times with no issues. I must have been dehydrated or hungry or something because that isn't like me. I think I was in the top row too so maybe that triggered something in my mind.

The very first time I rode Soarin' I was on the top row and had to really fight off a panic attack because I have a terrible fear of heights. The next time I rode it I requested the bottom row hoping it would help, but it didn't. I had a worse panic attack the second time, but it could've been because I was already anxious from my experience the first time.

One thing to note about the new Soarin movie is that you no longer "take off" in total darkness. I have not ridden this version yet, so I am not sure if this will make things worse for people with a fear of heights or not.

I am not too afraid of heights (at least not with Soarin now that I know what its like) but this information me troubles me a bit. I liked not being able to see when we lifted.
