Riding out tropical storms at resort -what to expect?

Excellent information! Thank you so much!!
Okay if the wind is constantly around 30 MPH the skyliner will shut down especially is it is also raining. We lived in Orlando for over 18 years and 30 MPH is not a "normal" Orlando summer day. Heck a typical summer day is more like a sauna and then some rain and you "hope" there will be some wind to help cool it off :D With that said, the parks will not close for that type of weather, so if rain and wind does not bother you, head to the parks because they will be a LOT less crowded:thumbsup2

No, rain has nothing to do with the skyliner. Lightning and sustained wind speeds ( won’t give you the exact number, operational) will shut down the skyliner. 30 mph will not shut it down.

Def planning on taking advantage of lower crowds! Rain gear is packed!

This will give you an idea of how they are viewing this rain event. This is posted on a local, Tampa news/ weather channel website.
If it was a serious event, they wouldn’t be joking around about it.
It supposed to go further north than that now.

No, the blue dot isn't Disney... it's my house LOL

We were at Disney when Tropical Storm Nicole came through a couple years ago. They closed the parks early and opened late the next day. They came around and put bottled water and a flashlight in our room. We mostly just hung our in our room, but the worst of the storm came during the night, so we would have been in the room anyway.

We were staying at the Yacht Club and could see Stormalong Bay from our balcony, so it was neat to watch the crews take down the cabanas, stack up the chairs and secure everything for the potential winds.

They are predicting this more of a heavy rain bands event and not really higher winds. With this AM's forecast shifting the storm more westward, I'd feel more confident that WDW/Orlando will get a good amount of rain where areas north (I'm just northwest of O-town) are expected to get much more rain/flooding.

I think this is aiming to hit Cedar Key and Steinhatchee areas with some decent surge and solid rainfall amounts.

Was at the World today. Cloudy and a little breezy at times. A few squirts of rain.
My wife flew in to Sanford from the Lehigh Valley. Flight was delayed but it arrived. Very little turbulence. She said it was a nice flight.

As of 5 pm we've had 2.1" of rain since midnight. Add that to the 0,75 from yesterday and we are at nearly 3" of rain. On a bright note - the sun is out and I've now got an infinity pool.
I’m on the boarder of Davenport and Haines City, we got a total of four inches so far. I took about four inches out of the pool last night and it refilled it with two inches. I work nights the next two days so I’ll have time tomorrow to pump some out if I have too.
To keep the wind gods away, I put just about everything that’s on the deck n the garage.

We were in Animal Kingdom yesterday (Monday) and it was EMPTY. Wait at FoP was 25 minutes. Everest was down all day, Kali down part of the day. No wait at the safari at all... we walked thru the queue and got on a truck. It was AWESOME. (there was one period of heavy rain for about 30 mins but we were under a shelter.)
