Riding GotG before fireworks?

What is the latest time you can get in line to ride GotG and be off the ride in time to watch the Epcot fireworks from a decent last minute spot?

Well, you can't enter the queue unless you have a Virtual Queue spot or an Individual Lightning Lane -- you do know that, right?

It's hard to say how long the queue might be. If you have a VQ, I have heard that can build up to about an hour wait, although the 8 or so times I have done it, I've never waited more than 15. Admittedly, only one of those times was in the evening.

If you have an ILL, it's usually very quick, the whole process (pre-show, final room waiting in the queue, actual ride) maybe 20 minutes tops.

When we went It was a full hour from the time we entered the queue and finished the ride.

We rode via the virtual queue, not the ILL.

Yes, I do. Thanks for checking that first. We rode it for the 1st time VQ last Sept in the afternoon between 4-5 and the line took about 40 minutes. I'm trying to plan backwards to figure out what time we'd have to leave AK to hop to EP if we just wanted to ride GotG and watch fireworks to close off that night. We have another full day planned for EP, I just can't wait to get back on GotG!

IF the ILL makes the wait shorter, I may consider that option to save us some time.

I'm also wondering/nervous they will end the VQ before our trip in May. I'm afraid it will turn into the headache that the other ILL eligible rides are in the other parks if you try to ride standby.

If you are hopping from AK, how would you get a VQ anyway?

I believe that the VQ will be ending before May, because Tron will become the VQ ride.

ILL would be the way to go for your scenario.

You'd have to be in EPCOT for the second drop of VQ times, which is at 1 PM, I think?

This has not been announced. They may have VQs for both attractions at the same time.

We will know once Tron opens.

Thanks for pointing out that I couldn't do VQ if we are at AK at 1pm and all afternoon. Lots of moving parts to consider, so I missed that. We'd have to do ILL which would mean a not too long wait. That will make it easier.
Can you still buy 2 ILL/ day?
