riding fastpass rides

I had a question about fastpasses. Here’s a hypothetical scenario for my question. We are going to EPCOT. We want to get there early and run back and get fastpasses for that ride. Most tips I see online mention sending one person to get the passes while the others do something else. Does anybody ever just hop in line for the same ride they are getting fastpasses for? To be honest, EPCOT is our least favorite (sorry if you are a fan), but SOARIN’ is awesome so we want to ride it as much as possible. It just seems like the regular line would be shortest at that early time as opposed to later.

Sure! If the FP machine line looks longer than the standby line, ride first and then get your FP. If the FP machine line is relatively short, grab your FP and then ride standby. People do this all the time--especially for TSM at DHS.:thumbsup2

All the time, especially at Soarin' and TSM.

Smitch and I are of one mind I see.

I'm not sure what the question is, lol.

People do get in line immediately. People do get FPs, not ride, and go back later. People do get in line for one thing and have a member of the party cut through the line to join them after getting FPs somewhere else.

Sometimes people have one person run ahead to get in line and the rest of them cut through the line to catch up.

We go to Soarin first and ride.

Always, actually. Normally we grab the FP, then head for the standby line. By the time we get off, our window is open, we can ride again, and then scurry off to get another FP

If your goal is to ride Soarin as many times as possible and then move on to another park, then you should all be at the turnstiles no later than 8:15am (non emh day) and stand in line at the third from last set of turnstiles on your right as you are facing them. Be prepared to move one spot to the right if that one opens and you are not at the front of your line (which you should be - unless it's a very busy day).
They will let you in at 8:47. One of you should take all the tickets for the family. You should all go straight to Soarin - the one with the tickets should go right to the FP machine and get Fps while the others wait patiently (they should not get in line, you should be able to go right to a machine if you were one of the first people to enter the park).
Then you all get right on the ride (max 5 min wait if you were first at the turnstile). After, see how much time you have till your FP window. If it's less than 30 minutes, ride Living with the Land and then grab another FP for Soarin and use your first set.
If it's much more than 30 min (unlikely), up to you...maybe go do Nemo and come back - or do LWTL and Circle of Life....
Doing this, by 12 pm you should have ridden 3 times and be on your way to a park you like better.

Yes, people do this, but you all go get the FP's (or wait for the one person) and then you all get in line together. The standby queue is going to be moving fast and filling up at the start, so it could get rather confrontational to get in line and expect the FP runner to push past others in the queue to cut in line to meet up with the rest of your party.

Dh is the one who gets all our fast passes, he moves faster than I do (even when we are both just walking). Plus, I have the joy of pushing a double stroller and keeping up with kids. Thus, by the time I actually MAKE it to Soarin' he is usually waiting on me with fast passes in hand.

This trip, my 13 year old was able to push the stroller faster than I could (he's 5'10" and much stronger than I am), so we met up right as the CMs were done measuring our two girls to ride. :)

For TSM, that double stroller gets us every single time...people constantly step right in front of it and then I have to compensate and get run into from behind. ::sigh:: It's almost not worth it to ride and get FPs at the same time.
