Moved our trip up to this September at Hilton Head for higher temps for swimming and such and I got to thinking about renting bikes then. I had planned on doing it since me and my husband did it last year back in March when the weather was cool. We really enjoyed doing it, but I know the temps made it most enjoyable.

I am now wondering if we will enjoy it as much, with the temps being much higher. 9/8/17-9/10/17. Starting to second guess this expense now. I know the kids will want to stay in the pool or the ocean most of the time.

I'd rather bike in the high heat than do pool time. Ymmv. Do you have to rent them ahead? Because I'd just wait and see how you feel.

And just remember that the cost of a weekly bike rental is less than double what a day rental is. What that means is that if you rent bikes for the week, as long as you use them on 2 days, you'll be OK. And since I just went bike riding in a climate where "feels like" temperatures were in the 90s (now well over 100 degrees), biking in the heat isn't bad. DH went running, then biking, and he said that biking was LOTS easier in the heat.

You don't have to rent them ahead, but I found a company that will rent me four bikes, for three days for right at $70, if I rent them two weeks ahead.

It will not be bad. I was just on HHI at the beginning of June and my family road our bikes daily. We tend to go in the morning, so even if it is a hot you can get a nice breeze which helps a lot!
