Ridiculous crowd!

As far as people saying to just go a different time...not everyone has that luxury. They may have kids in school and just can't take a week during non peak times and they may only be so many available weeks that someone (or both people in a family) can take a vacation.
...

Yep, that's why it's called non-peak.....cause ya'll who go during peak aren't going during non-peak. :rotfl2:

Going to go thank my hubby again for loving to work while the girls and I go to Disney during those non-peak times. Only time we've gone in summer was last August/Sept (for the Star Wars Convention) and it was hot and humid and muggy...but still barely crowded.

I know what it means, seriously don't come here for an education by other Dissers I was not the first to say its used on the Dis and I am not the first to say its uncalled for, someone else on this thread said the name calling now begins and I agree

Impressive command of diacritical marks! (much better than mine, obviously!)

Well, if you find the term unsettling, I'd be happy to call the apologists defenders.

We just took our first trip when the crowd calendars said "7" and I thought that was plenty crowded. Of course I've been on this board enough to know that the 4th is one of the busiest times of the year, HOWEVER, that really didn't register as it should have until I saw some of the pictures of the crowds this week. Holy mother of sweaty armpit to armpit throngs. I can totally see how even experienced Disney travelers could get caught off guard. Complain away OP!

It's funny -- I didn't read the OP as particularly negative or complaining. More of an OMG / "there are so many PEOPLE!" incredulous thing. I mean ... has it escaped people that he ended his post by giving a little verbal fistbump to the CMs?

:earsboy:

I read it the same way, but others responses aren't the least bit unusual around here.

when you ask the other 3 or 4 posters that commented on the term prior to me
and get their opinion then I will tell you mine I don't like the term drinking the kool-aid either ;)

That's right. Apologetics is used frequently now in the creation/evolution debate; and is not offensive a term in the least by those involved in or supported by either group. Our church pastor occasionally has a sermon titled "Apologetics".

You appear to find the term derogatory and/or offensive and I am having difficulty understanding why. And of course your opinion is YOUR opinion. However much you don't like it, the term is frequently correctly ascribed. I have no problem whatsoever if someone calls me an apologist if I am defending a certain side in a discussion. It is not the same thing as blind, deaf or unreasoning adherence to a belief. Now, THAT I would find derogatory.

I shall henceforth refer to those who accept without question the official position as "drinking the orange juice"...

unless, of course, you have some issue with that as well.

In that case, we can just say "drinking the free ice water."

4 other people on this thread PRIOR to me mentioned the use of the term, and how they felt about it, quote them please as I am done here

My sincerest apologies. Yours were the only posts that appeared to reply multiple times on the point in question. I'm probably done too- time for a nice glass of kool-aid.

Conquered 30 rides at MK on the 4th of july. Had the best time ever! Just have to be smart and PATIENT!!

Oh for goodness sake ... take a breath! Other people have said that the term was overused. You're not the only one. You are, however, the only one to keep arguing the point, which is why the others are baiting you. All the yelling only makes them more determined to make you loose your cool. And you're so worried about winning that you've missed that and played right into it.

And ... scene.

Let's reset, ladies and gentlemen, and move on to the next act. :cool1:

Uh. If no one ever complained about July 4th crowds on the Disney boards like the OP did how would you be able to research it?

Do a quick search and there are plenty of threads about the 4th of July, and how busy it is.

We found riding as soon as the fireworks start to be a good strategy even if it was just to avoid the cords

No, no, NO! It's "Eating the Dole Whip..." :)

I think this weekend in particular is particularly nasty because the 4th was on a Thursday, and between the people who also got Friday off and the ones that took it off anyways to make it a 4-day weekend, along with all the others staying the whole week, its a gate-buster, but it still didn't reach Stage 4 closure. Not sure how much capacity was gained with the FLE...
