I have only gone to Disneyland once and we just had four people in our group. The next time we go we will have five people and I am wondering how that works when you go on rides that only have room for 2 or 3 people? If they load the first 4 then there is 1 person left does that person have a car to himself or do they add other people? On a ride like Indiana Jones will they let 3 in one car then just 2 in the next? I'd appreciate any input you have. I have heard of a "single rider line" but we won't want to split up and I'm not sure how it is going to work. Thanks!

On the vast majority of rides, there are multiple rows in each vehicle. Indiana Jones seats 12 per vehicle and they'll probably put 3 in one row and 2 in another (you'll all be in the same vehicle). Space Mountain seats 12 with six per rocket (2 rockets make a train) and you'll sit 2x2 with one person by themselves (again, in the same rocket, so you'll all be in the picture together). The only places where things might be an issue are on some of the dark rides in Fantasyland where you can only fit 2-4 people, in which case, someone might have a car to themselves, though if they fit 4, they'll probably split you up as a 2 & a 3.

In rides that fit two people per vehicle, obviously one person in your group of 5 will be riding alone, although they'll load your group's vehicles one right after the other, so you'll still be able to see each other, and in a way still able to share the experience together.

Other rides seat several people together. You asked about Indiana Jones, and if I remember correctly, those ride vehicles seat twelve people (4 seats across, 3 rows front to back). So you'll all get to sit together, although 4 of you will be in one row, and 2 of you will be in another row (but you'll all be in the same ride vehicle).

Anyway, most of the time your group will be split like this depending on the ride vehicles.

a) two/two/one (for rides with vehicles that seat two per vehicle)
b) three/two (for rides with vehicles that seat four per vehicle)
c) you'll all be in the same ride vehicle, although possibly in different rows (like Indiana Jones, It's a small World, Pirates of the Carribean, Splash, Winnie the Pooh, ect...)

Hope that helps to answer your question a bit. :sunny:

Good question! It was nice to read the answers, as we have a party of 7 and I was wondering how it might work.

Ditto DisneySuperMom. Our last trip we had seven, which sometimes left an odd man out. However, we quickly learned instead of trying to organize ourselves to just always told the loading CM we had seven in our group and we were impressed with the ways they managed to keep us together. There were very few rides where someone was left alone, and when we did have to have a loner, they almost always found a way for that person to be in the same ride vehicle even if they had to be in a seat by themselves, like on Space Mountain and Matterhorn.
