Is there any rides that you think will be at WDW forever? or will any of the clasics potc,HM etc... still be around in say 50 years?

HM and POTC will definately be around. So will the Mountains. They'll never get rid of Small World.

I believe Jungle Cruise was Walt's favorite in CA, so that's not going anywhere.

Small World
All Mountains
POTC
Spaceship Earth
Haunted Mansion (Just gets better with age ;) )

Just to name a few...

Definitely POTC and HM, and most likely also IASM. As for the Jungle Cruise, I am not so sure, although Idon't see it in imminent danger.

Spaceship Earth has gotten very close to be replaced with a thrill ride, so I don't think its invincible at this point. The mountains are probably also safe, though I think it is likely that WDWs Space Mountain will get the same type of track layout as Disneyland's (I wish, anyway). I'd love them to use DLP's Space Mountain design, but the structure is too small for that I think.

Besides what everyone else said, I really want to say Carousel of Progress...They call it seasonal, but it's always open when I go...plus it's always been a favorite of mine.

I think It's a Small World will always be there.
it's funny because my husband and I were discussing this topic while we were at WDW and he said he thinks It's a Small World will be gone in another two years to make room for something better and he also said that about Country Bear Jamboree and Tiki Room. He likes all 3 but he thinks that kids today are not at all excited by those rides and are bored to death riding them. I think they will live on because people are sentimental.

I hope and pray CoP never goes away...
The cindy's carousel will never leave
I hope hope hope peter pan, snow white, small world never leave but they took away toad's wild ride so who knows:(
Space mountain, hm, potc will stay. I hope.

I'd love if some of the old classics always stay like country bears and tikki house. as much as I don't enjoy either.. I always go:)

Tower of Terror! Best ride for thrills and chills! Best setup before the actual ride as well. Haunted Mansion and POC too.

I hope CoP stays forever. It's the only thing I really remember from my first trip as a kid.

I think IASM should around forever since it such a classic. I agree with most people that I think that the Mountains will probably remain as well.

I think attendance will determine what rides are still around in 50 years. If a ride, no matter how beloved it may have once been isn't drawing in the crowds, it isn't safe, no matter how much even Walt himself might have loved it.

Does anybody else remember the Sky Trams?

I think for the forseeable future PotC, HM, and the Mountains are safe.

I remember the sky trams:)

I'm SO EXCITED to read here all of those who like COP.. I thought I was alone!!!

I have to agree with IASM....I love that ride! It was my Nana's all time favorite, so maybe it is just sentimental to me.

Dumbo......I can't believe someone else hasn't mentioned it yet. Its as much a signature ride as any of the others.

My theory is that the "thrill rides" (coasters, etc.) are all likely destined to be replaced (or at least substantially modified) someday because of the way the bar keeps getting raised on the scariness factor. I was at Busch Gardens last Saturday and we ate lunch next to the new Sheikra coaster, which features a 90 degree free fall -- I mean straight down and then immediately into an inverted loop. Just watching it gave me the creeps. I looked over across the way at the old Scorpion coaster, which seemed so deliciously sinister when I was a kid, but now seems almost quaint in comparison.

I think certain rides are icons -- Small World, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribbean, and they'll likely be there in substantially the same form for as long as there is a Magic Kingdom. To say "Small World" is boring misses the point. Little kids don't much care that Small World is ancient and corny compared to some other attractions. They're never going to be too jaded to be fascinated by a boat ride among hundreds of little moving colorful mannequins and a snappy little tune that you can't get out of your head for months. It's kind of like merry go rounds. How passe are they, but they're still a mainstay of every carnival and theme park. Somewhere around the age of 7 or 8 most children "grow out of" them. Before then, however, they'll never be able to pass one without begging for a ride.
