Marv, sorry you didn't enjoy your Tonga Toast. I've never had it (I don't like bananas and it looks way too sweet to me and you have now confirmed that). Mark had the Big Kahuna last year in September I believe...he enjoyed it but was not crazy about the macademia pancakes.
I love bananas, and often have them cut up on cereal for breakfast. The first two or three bites were pretty good, but when you start to get the bananas plus the sugar sprinkled on the outside plus the sweetness of the strawberry compote.........it gets overwhelming quickly! If I did try the Tonga Toast again, I think I would just keep the compote on the side and just dip a little at a time, or maybe even do some of the bites with none at all.
Funny....Disney's bacon seems to be getting better and now the sausage is getting worse.
Beautiful pictures of the Poly; someday I will stay there again.
Maybe you will hit the lottery and you can stay there and invite me down to stay with you so we can have a DISmeet! The Poly would be a great place for that, although knowing us we would probably have our first DISmeet at one of the parks, like DHS (ToT anyone?) or more likely somewhere in Epcot since you love stopping for those adult beverages.
Great Update even if LONG overdue !!!

I see I didn't mess up the top of the page this time !!Note to self Use the Crystal Ball to mess up the top of the page !!!!

I think I would have the same reaction to Tonga Toast !!I do want to try the Big Kahuana . but will ask for the sauce on the side !! Heck I put salt on pancakes

The Theming at Poly is a favorite of mine too !!I just love going there to just see it !!!
If you look at Kathy's post right after, you will see how I originally reserved that spot quickly before you could get there............
I have visited the Poly many times also. Maybe one day a stay will be on the agenda. One place I could say it is a great place to visit, and I WOULD want to stay there!!!
great photos of the Poly! sorry you didn't like your breakfast! would be way to sweet for my taste...not a sausage lover, would get the bacon!
Megan and I were going through restaurants we want to try in Nov and Kona Cafe has made the list...I just really want the juice and pressed pot!
happy to hear Drew is feeling better! and we finally get to see your Oct 2011 photos
We had eaten at Kona for dinner before, and it was a great meal so I was excited about doing the breakfast there. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal, and the big thing for me is that the Tonga Toast is really a lot of food, and just seemed to get sweeter and sweeter. But there was nothing wrong with the quality and I would definitely go back, so I know you and Megan will really enjoy it!
And yes, I guess you will soon be making an appearance in this TR also.............
Mmmmm...Kona Cafe...
At 10:45? I imagine they were getting ready to serve lunch at that point!
When I originally made the ADR I was thinking 9:00 rope drop, hit a couple of rides and grab a couple of FPs before they moved out too far into the day, and then head out to eat, so yes I was looking for that latest breakfast time slot before it moved over to a lunch menu.
Hey, it sounded good in theory.............
I think we all know the answer there!
You're probably right.............you know me well. Are we really that much alike???
I'm not a fan of bananas added to my food, so I don't think I'd care for it either.
It wasn't the bananas because I really like those, but it just got sweeter with each bite......and that sucker ain't tiny.............
Well, bacon does make everything better. Nobody says that about sausage.
You need to eat the real sausage you find in the south, where people slaughter their own hogs and grind their own............fresh and not filled with all the preservatives and additives. You wouldn't be the first from up north who changed their minds............
I like it a lot, too. Parts of it seem a little dated, but how can they not? It's my favorite theme of the monorail resorts.
By far it blows away the other monorail resorts! The Poly and Wilderness Lodge are the two I haven't stayed at that are high on my bucket list!
Be still my heart...the Polynesian will always be my home resort even if it's now way out of the budget. Thanks so much for the photos - next best thing to being there.

Lots of wonderful memories of stays there with my kids.
Not much of a fan of Kona - don't really get why it is so popular. We've tried a few times but never had a good luck - we found it expensive and food so-so at best. We tried Tonga Toast back in 1982 and that was the last time. Not a fan of bananas in French toast and it is Sooo darn sweet!
Andrew's breakfast looks yummy!

That's a shame about the sausage.

Oh my gosh, the OJ is soooo yummy!!!
Have you tried Ohana's breakfast? Never expected to enjoy it as I am so NOT a fan of Stitch, but it was one of my all time favorite breakfasts - even as a character breakfast. Rosie and I might have to enjoy Kona and Ohana's before the cruise.
Very nice birthday update for Rosie!!
Glad you enjoyed the update Christine! The Poly is a wonderful place! We had dinner at Kona once before, and it was wonderful!

There was nothing wrong with the food that morning (well, except the sausage). I guess I was so looking forward to trying the Tonga Toast from reading so many reports about it, and then it just got too sweet to finish.
We have actually eaten at O'Hana's a couple of times before......always for breakfast! As a matter of fact, hang on because the next morning O'Hana was our breakfast before we headed home.
(And yes I hear that O'Hana is also wonderful for dinner, so I have to look into getting that one booked when I make it back sometime.)
