Rides, Slides, Eats & Meets Oct DISmeet Trip. 5/6-Ch 14 Closing Thoughts

Well if SOMEBODY had been a little faster on their update it wouldn't have happened. :snooty: Don't go blaming me because you're a slacker! :p

I like you, jillyb. I'm leaving for Disney Friday morning so keep after this clown please. :)

Slacker? Wow that's pretty harsh!!! :sad1:

I prefer to think of it as being "consistent." ;)

Clown? Did you two attend the same elementary school name calling class together??? :confused3

And you're wasting your time with Jill. She needs about as much encouragement to dog me as Rosie does..........

Chapter 8 – A Final Surprise DISMeet

After our ride together on RNR, we did a quick check on ToT but the wait time was already longer than we were willing to wait in line. We decided to head back towards the other side of the park and see what might interest us. On the way we came across a crowd and saw this so we decided to stop and watch for a while.

195.jpg

They were holding a Disney trivia contest between some contestants they pulled out of the crowd, but it was obvious that the contest was "rigged" since one of the contestants kept getting very difficult questions, while the other was getting very easy ones, which was good for quite a few laughs just watching the expressions on their faces.

200.jpg

201.jpg

After the contest, they pulled an unsuspecting married couple out of the crowd………….
204.jpg

And for some reason made him propose again
205.jpg

She said yes!
206.jpg

The whole time I was watching this show I had one eye open for someone in the crowd or at least passing by the area. I had another surprise DISmeet in mind as there was someone else who was supposed to be at DHS that day based on their PTR plans. As the performance was nearing an end I spotted the group I was looking for coming up Hollywood Blvd as they had apparently just entered the park. I'm sure Rosie will recognize the guy in the background with the black shirt, even in this blurry picture.

209.jpg

It was Dan (DannyDisneyFreak), one of Rosie's cohorts who was also hosting a tour group at the same time Rosie was there. He had mentioned he was also up for DISmeets on Rosie's PTR before this trip, so I was excited to meet another DISer if given the chance. When I surprised Rosie at DTD I asked her not to tell Dan I was there so I could surprise him also, so she didn't mention to Dan that she had seen me.

As I quickly moved to get in front of Dan and his group, Jonathan again played photographer. Trying to walk through the crowd while attempting to take pictures AND get in the best position to capture the moment isn't the easiest thing, especially when the camera is on autofocus and people get in your way, but he did a pretty good job anyway!

You can see Cathleen in this picture on the far left in the Minnie ears and sunglasses. She was the other escort on the tour with Dan.
212.jpg

Formulating my plan as I headed towards Dan and his group, I decided why come up with a new plan since the one I used for meeting Rosie worked so well. As I walked up right in front of Dan I once again pulled out my wooden spoon, stuck it in Dan's face and asked "What is this I hear that you've been talking bad about me???" Dan looked at me with a slightly worried look as everyone else tried to figure out what was happening, then replied "Uh, I haven't been talking bad about you........" As I continued to stare at him, I twisted the spoon back and forth a little to draw attention to it, and started to smile. Dan has obviously been hanging around Rosie too much because he hesitantly asked the same question......"Marv?" I confirmed he had it all figured out now and we shook hands, doing formal introductions. Dan introduced me to Cathleen and then explained to the rest of the group that I was Marv........the one that Rosie had a picture of on the spoon she carried around.

214.jpg

After a short chat so I didn't hold them up, we said our goodbye's and Jonathan, Katharina, Magdalene and I headed off to see what else we might want to do as we waited for our lunch ADR time to arrive. We ended up at Star Tours and since the wait wasn't very long, we decided to ride. I don't have any pictures, and I can't remember the specific ride we had (although Darth Vader and the Pod Races seems correct). I do remember as we were walking into the dump shop that I was discussing the different scenarios I had experienced on Star Tours. The Pod Races would have been a new one for me. Whichever scenario it was I remember Magdalene and Katharina saying they had experienced that one when they were there earlier in their trip.

After Star Tours we headed towards TSMM, but with the long lines and them not having FPs to ride, we decided to walk through One Man's Dream. But first Jonathan and I grabbed another set of FPs for later that afternoon, so we now had two sets to use later.

216.jpg

While spending time with Magdalene and Katharina I thought it would provide them an interesting perspective of their trip to see themselves in pictures enjoying the sights.

217.jpg

219.jpg

For the longest time I hadn't ridden Peter Pan's Flight. Mainly it was because every time we happened to be walking by, the wait time was always very high and we never felt like waiting it out. However, on the previous trip we finally hit it late at night and the line wasn't very long, so we rode it. I was really happy that I finally got to ride it as it is a classic Disney ride, and I thought it was really cool with the unique ride vehicles that are suspended from above so you feel like you are floating in the clouds above the scenes below you. When I saw the scale model for the ride, I had to get a picture.

218.jpg

It was finally getting close to time for our lunch ADR, so we headed across the park towards 50's Prime Time Cafe. Magdalene had scheduled this meal for all of us. Katharina and Magdalene didn't have a very eventful meal here on a previous trip and Magdalene thought it might have been because their waitress realized they were from another country, since she and Katharina have the German accents, and didn't think they would understand what was going on or maybe get offended. Magdalene wanted to give this restaurant another try so she could enjoy the fun, but she figured that would only happen if she was with people who the wait staff was willing to play along with. Well who better to irritate them sufficiently so Katharina and Magdalene could enjoy all the fun than.............Jonathan. :rolleyes1

We were seated fairly soon after Magdalene checked us in. Of course I had to try and get things started right away with elbows on the table and anything else I could think of to liven things up in our little seating area, drawing immediate reprimands from our cousin who was waiting on our table. We ordered our food and I continued to try and "irritate" our waitress and get into more trouble and I think Magdalene and Katharina were enjoying the banter between us. I don't remember it being that busy while we were there and we soon had our food.

My Fried Chicken

Jonathan’s Salmon

Magdalene ordered the Meatloaf. I think she said she had wanted to try the Peanut Butter and Jelly milkshake on a previous trip, so she took the opportunity to order it this time. During the meal she let me taste it and it was pretty good. I gave her a taste of my collards in return. Seemed like a fair trade to me. I'm guessing by the reaction I enjoyed my sample better than Magdalene did.

Throughout the meal I kept trying to get myself into trouble, and also tattle on some of my cousins at the next table to add to the excitement. There was also a funny event where our cousin picked on Jonathan. Since Magdalene got a great picture and offered to post it when I got to this point, I will let her tell that part of the story when she shares the picture.

Even though I love most of the food at 50's PT, and think the collards are pretty good, I intentionally hid a few of them under my chicken bones so I would get busted for that. Either our cousin didn't spot them, or she just ignored it since we didn't order dessert, so I didn't get the special collard dessert I was hoping for. Our cousin was pretty good with the role playing, but still not as good as some experiences I have had there. Hopefully Katharina and Magdalene enjoyed it at least a little better than their previous trip.

After the meal Magdalene and Katharina were ready to head back to their room so we said our goodbyes, knowing we would see them later that evening. Jonathan and I still had some time before our second FP window opened up for TSMM. We wanted to ride back to back and try to get higher scores, so we decided to head here for another quick ride while we waited for both sets of FPs to be useable.

224.jpg

This time we took advantage of the single rider line and were able to ride after a rather short wait. We exited the ride and spent a little time looking around in the dump shop. Our FP window for TSMM was getting close so we headed that way. I still had a few minutes so I stopped for a quick picture of this guy. I didn't realize at that time that I also got a crayon in the picture that has been a hot topic of conversation on the DIS since this trip.

227.jpg

Jonathan and I then headed into the FP line for our first of two afternoon rides on TSMM. As we waited we discussed our strategy for working together that we had used that morning. So did it work?

228.jpg

Yes! :cheer2: We both improved our scores from the morning, and still had one more ride to go. Now here comes the bad part. Jonathan and I got right back in line and were soon on the ride again. With the previous ride fresh in our minds we were quite efficient at opening the bonus areas of the game and we knew we had done pretty well. We got to the end and our final scores appeared on the screen in front of us. Jonathan had broken the 200k barrier but in our excitement neither of us thought to grab the camera until Jonathan noticed he also had the highest score for the "hour." As we tried to quickly grab the camera for a picture another ride vehicle came in behind us and bumped Jonathan's score from the top spot. In our discussion of all this going on we didn't get a single picture of his accomplishment. I think his score was around 210k, and mine was also a little higher, but sadly we don't have a record of the moment to remind us of our new high scores. :guilty:

Done with everything we wanted to accomplish at DHS we headed back to the car and our hotel. We wanted to rest up and get ready for our evening with Katharina and Magdalene. So where were we headed???

Coming up Chapter 9 – Time for a Scary Little Party!

An update!!!

I remember the citizens of Hollywood and their contest. While it was funny, I did not like it that it was less a little show about them, more about some random guests. Might be more fun for these people who were involved but as a spectator, I would have preferred a more in character show.

I think Katharina and I ended up going on the same trip on Star Tours for nearly all of our rides during that vacation. Made me wonder why random elements never seemed to change for me...

I allways like One Man's Dream. It is a very neat exhibition!

We had fun at lunch! I also remember that we got a guest at our table for some time - a lady from the table next to ours since she was ousted from her family. Of course I am travelling this weekend (visiting Katharina, leaving after work today), so won't be able to post the fun picture of Jonathan until Monday!

Congratulations on the new highscore! :cheer2::cheer2:

Looking forward to the next update! I know that you have some lovely pictures from that evening!

Clown? Did you two attend the same elementary school name calling class together??? :confused3

And you're wasting your time with Jill. She needs about as much encouragement to dog me as Rosie does..........

You started it! :p

Sure! You do an update when you know I'm leaving tomorrow and I have a lot to do today.

I won't comment on lunch because you kinks what u think of that place.

Great photos and fun entertainment.

Aren't you just the one for surprise DIS meets?;)

Oh look...it's an update. What's the deal with the people eating crayon??!!!

I definitely think you got the better deal on tasting the peanut butter shake. Collards...yuck!

Darn. We appreciate the effort, though.

Chapter 8 – A Final Surprise DISMeet

:faint:

I wonder what would have happened if she said no... :lmao:

Lucky he didn't call for Security... :lmao: For attempted assault with a spoon.

 You haven't been on Peter Pan until then???

I get it I won't wait in a long line either.

I'm with the Captain.... RRRIiiiiiiiigggghtt

During the meal she let me taste it and it was pretty good. I gave her a taste of my collards in return. Seemed like a fair trade to me. I'm guessing by the reaction I enjoyed my sample better than Magdalene did.

Um NO - You got the better end of the deal. :rotfl2:

Jonathan and I then headed into the FP line for our first of two afternoon rides on TSMM. As we waited we discussed our strategy for working together that we had used that morning. So did it work?

228.jpg

Great Job!!!

I will make mention though that you could hold your FP because WAY BACK WHEN this trip was taken you could do that. Sadly no longer. :sad1:

Yes! :cheer2: We both improved our scores from the morning, and still had one more ride to go. Now here comes the bad part. Jonathan and I got right back in line and were soon on the ride again. Coming up Chapter 9 – Time for a Scary Little Party!

I know I know!!!!!

Oh and by the way....

party: :bday:party:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARV!!!! Hope you had a wonderful day.

:rotfl2:Only 5 days later but ..... I am sooo glad to see I have an ally in keeping Marv in line while Kathy is gone !!!I will have to let Dan know he is on the Dis from 2 years ago . Luckily he is young and not yet senile so he may remember the Meet!!!By the way Dan and Cathleen are getting married next September !!!!
I was not overly impressed with 50's , but I think they may have been afraid to pick on The Group!! Even though my elbows were all over the table !! Ia going again with The Grannie Trip in December !!! Maybe if I pole dace they will put mein the corner !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

sounds like a fun afternoon, still have never eaten at 50's not sure they could handle my crowd.
:)

some time ill give them a run for there money.

while they take my money.
:thumbsup2

I'll stay on him! LOL
So busy trying to crack on me, you couldn't even notice I posted an update, huh??? :confused3

You started it! :p
Still hadn't noticed...... :sad2:

Sure! You do an update when you know I'm leaving tomorrow and I have a lot to do today.

Oh sure, last time you were hoping I would get it in before you left. Now you're complaining that I DID........ :rolleyes2

I won't comment on lunch because you kinks what u think of that place.

Yeah, but you love Waffle House and don't like Cracker Barrel, so............. :rolleyes1

Great photos and fun entertainment.

Thanks! It was a quick, but fun and busy morning!

Aren't you just the one for surprise DIS meets?;)
Hey, you are pretty good at the DISmeets too!!! It is always super meeting DISfriends in person!!! :goodvibes

Oh look...it's an update.

Well, at least you turned observant and FINALLY noticed. Or did someone have to point it out to you......... :scratchin

What's the deal with the people eating crayon??!!!

:rotfl2: Yeah, but only the heads........... :lmao:

I definitely think you got the better deal on tasting the peanut butter shake. Collards...yuck!
I was thinking about adding some to the milkshake just to make it better, but Magdalene wouldn't let me......... :(

An update!!!

I remember the citizens of Hollywood and their contest. While it was funny, I did not like it that it was less a little show about them, more about some random guests. Might be more fun for these people who were involved but as a spectator, I would have preferred a more in character show.

I agree! My timing always seems to be a little off when it comes to the Streetmosphere, so I almost never see ALL of a performance. It would have been nice to see them all just entertaining in character instead of just standing there watching for the most part....... :(

I think Katharina and I ended up going on the same trip on Star Tours for nearly all of our rides during that vacation. Made me wonder why random elements never seemed to change for me...

That IS strange. I very seldom have gotten the same one twice in a row. Usually at least something about it is different. :confused3

I allways like One Man's Dream. It is a very neat exhibition!

Even though I have looked at and read about most of the displays, I still have to go through there most trips! :thumbsup2

We had fun at lunch! I also remember that we got a guest at our table for some time - a lady from the table next to ours since she was ousted from her family. Of course I am travelling this weekend (visiting Katharina, leaving after work today), so won't be able to post the fun picture of Jonathan until Monday!

Oh yes, I forgot about our "guest." That was pretty funny! Hope you had a great trip to see Katharina, and can't wait for you to add your perspective on our lunch!

Congratulations on the new highscore! :cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks! My scores were going up too, so I didn't mind working with Jonathan to see how good we could do together! ::yes::

Looking forward to the next update! I know that you have some lovely pictures from that evening!
Lovely huh??? You must think you are in some of them............ ;)

Man, you're good at this whole stalk--uh, I mean, surprise DISmeet thing.

:tiptoe:

:rotfl2: Seems to be a common reaction!

Yes, I seem to have that affect on people....... So when was your next trip again??? :rolleyes1

I'm endlessly fascinated whenever I see plans or models of the rides.

I'm guessing that is because eventually they end up back where they started, so essentially they are a "road" to nowhere........sorta like express lanes in Hawaii.......... :rotfl2:

:woohoo: I don't care what Kathy says, I love that place!

:thumbsup2

Riiiiiight.

You seem skeptical???

Man, you totally hosed her on that deal. "Collard greens" is just a fancy term for seaweed.

No way I would have shared my seaweed!!! :rolleyes2

popcorn::

Darn. We appreciate the effort, though.

Yeah, it was disappointing not to get that final interaction for not cleaning my plate....... :worried:

Oh no! Considering how much I suck at this game, I'm in awe of that score. :worship:
There are some who can open all the hidden bonuses by themselves, and rack up huge points, but since I normally suck at this game also, it is better for me when I get to work with someone for higher scores!!! It is still better on that rare occasion when you get lucky and actually post the high score though........ :goodvibes
