We are taking our 5 1/2 month old to disney next week and I am debating (with myself of course) on what rides I can take my daughter on! I know that any ride without a height restriction is ok for her to go on but I am not sure (even though I have been on most rides many times)! Can anyone tell me some of the rides your little ones enjoy?

Thank you *o*

I don't have little kids (I'm only 20) but I still know rides she (and you) will enjoy together! And I still enjoy rides for littler kids too haha

MK
Monsters Inc laugh floor
People Mover
Pooh
Peter Pan
Little Mermaid
Enchanted Tales with Belle
Its a small world
Dumbo
Then of course meeting characters

HS
I think mostly the shows would only be good here

Epcot
Nemo
Mexico boat ride

AK
Safari
Shows
Dinosaur ride(like dumbo not the DINOSAUR ride)

Hope this helps :)

Anything without a height requirement so you have TONS of options

Our 4.5 month old did everything we did without a restriction in February

Some things missing from the previous list that we did

MK
Jungle Cruise
Pirates
Alladins Carpets
Haunted Mansion
Train
Carousel
Philharmagic
Tea Cups

EP
Figment
Spaceship Earth
Living with the Land

Yep, anything w/o restrictions, which is tons of things! We took a 4 month old a few years ago and will be taking a 5.5 month old this fall…at that age they either sleep, nurse, or are interested in the lights & sounds. Win win win!

I took my 3 month old (and then 8 month old next trip) on everything we went on without a height restriction. He was too young to care. He was fine on everything. They are too young to get scared at that age. Usually he either looked at all the colors/movement or slept.

We went to our local amusement park (Hershey Park) for my company picnic when he was 12 months old (but not quite walking yet). He was able to ride 2 rides in the whole park. At Disney he was able to do about 75% of the stuff there as a 3 month old in comparison. Big reason we choose to spend our dollars in Disney, since the whole family can enjoy :thumbsup2

The only ones I would be wary of that I can think of (and my son was older his first trip) are the 2 Toy Story ones (MK and HS). They tend to move quickly and jerk (the one in MK you control yourself so you can move less I guess). If you do take him on, make sure to hold onto her head.

It'd probably be easier to list the ones you wouldn't want to take the baby on. Obviously anything with a height restriction, other than that the only one I would be concerned about is Toy Story Mania at DHS, just because it makes quick fast turns. Having said that with a 5 month old I'd probably take mine and just hold him tight during the turns. I've seen much younger babies on it and even my 3 month old niece went on it with her parents. There's really nothing else (maybe Tea Cups) that I'd give a second thought to. The Buzz ride at MK should be fine as it's set up different and you don't spin unless you purposefully move the controller's to spin, so it really wouldn't be any different than Haunted Mansion or something.

Thank you so much everyone, this has made me feel so much more comfortable :) I can't wait to see her face light up !!

Pirates has a drop in it, so if you're baby is easily startled it may not be a good idea.

It's a Small World is great for babies, with all the colours and movement. Also the Disney Jr. show at Hollywood Studios has puppets, songs and lots of movement.

And there's nothing better than a foot or hand in a water fountain at that age EPCOT has a fun one, and Hollywood Studios play area has some with minimal splashing (a thin layer of water cascading down a wall).

Enjoy!

We went when my DD was 4 months and she didn't care what we rode and liked just about everything. She especially liked IASW, though, I think because of the music.

She did not like anything that was pitch black, though. On TTA when it goes through the dark part (the complete dark, not just low lighting) she started to cry, so we avoided anything that was very dark.

Have fun!

If you go here...http://customizedmaps.disney.go.com You can select "preschooler" and it will highlight all the rides you can ride with your little. There are tons! We have gone pregnant, with NB's and toddlers. You can print theses maps or order more official ones for free and they will come in 4-6wks:)

I did TSM with a baby carrier. The extra "seatbelt" worked out well.

I used my ring sling to wear my 3 month old DD on TSM. The turns are rough so during those i held her head close to me so it wouldnt jerk her around. We did the ride twice the first time she was wrapped up in front but the lap bar came down too close. I was able to lift her up a little and she kind of rested on the bar. While wrapped to me.

I also wore my 4 month old. He was secure in my Kinderpack and I had two hands to play :)

As previous posters already mentioned, infants are welcome on any ride without a height requirement.

For personal safety, if the ride has a lot of motion, your baby will ride safer when they are strong enough to sit on their own beside you, even if it limits some of their sights.

I took my 5-month-old on all the boat rides, train rides, and dumbo. But I didn't put her on the tea cups until she was 13 months old. (She still loves any ride that spins.)

Living with the Land is great for napping babies and toddlers. If it is not busy, they may let you stay on for a second ride. DH was able to ride 3 times without getting off with DD when she was 2 (napping happily) while DS and I were on Soarin.

Ds went at the same age. The one and only ride that he cried on was the Haunted Mansion. I thought he was too young to register it as scary, but he sure did NOT like it. :scared:

He seemed to especially like Buzz and Nemo, and was content on all the others.

He did fine with the characters and seemed to enjoy the parades (a lot of the characters came over to say hello as they went by).

Any boat ride seemed to relax him, we spent a good amount of time in Epcot on the ferry that goes around the World Showcase lagoon (we sat outside in the back on the end and went around and around).

If you forget something in the room don't panic, they seem to sell just about anything an infant could want or need in the baby care centers.

Perhaps his all time favorite activity during that trip was the Kidani pool. :beach:

Just beware that both pirates and the ride in norway have a little drop. I'd also recommend baby wearing if you don't already. Sling's are great, just make sure you read how to put them in there so as not to cause discomfort or hip/knee issues later in life :thumbsup2
