Rides for the Chubby (or the downright fat)

Thanks so much for posting! I was about to go to bed (it's 10.15 here) but this site is keeping me up. I feel addicted to Disney already and i'm not even there yet! I'm really excited and feel like a kid, its fantastic. We booked our flights yesterday and my husband and I haven't stopped grinning! We've also gotten our 14 day passes. We were going to get Universal passes but with everything i've read about Island of Adventure i'll probably pass that up this time and just spend a day at Universal Studios.

I'm really looking forward to going on Soarin although again, am worried about the seatbelt. Am hoping the parks aren't so crazy in September and that if I have to come off something there won't be an audience of 300 watching...do you expect there to be huge crowds? Besides us?! :)

We (my husband and I) are there from 17 September to 1 October. We wanted to stay at Disney but the hotels were quite pricey and for some bizarre reason it worked out cheaper renting a house. But it has a pool (apparently this is the norm, woo hoo!) so at least I can swim stress free! Although i'd love to visit Typhoon Lagoon and see those sharks.

What's the free Dining Plan, is it like an all-inclusive deal?

I hope you guys have a great time too!

Hi again-

The free dining plan is available until Oct. 4th or 5th I believe. We got 7 nights at the Pop Century Resort, 6 day park hoppers, and free dining for $1075 with tax. Not to shabby. You are right about the resorts being expensive. We will be there at the same time as you are :teeth:

Soarin looks like a lot of fun, but I'm not to worried about that one. Like I said the seatbelts really did not cause me any trouble or the lap bars. Big Thunder Mountain had a lap bar and I had no problem with that, but I was riding it with my 9 year old sister. My problem is with small seats and should harness rides. I was concerned about RNR because of the shoulder harness and space mountain because of the size of the seat.

You are right about Islands of Adventure. My DH and I went there and they have the seats our front to try, but how embarassing is it to be out there in front of everyone trying to see if you fit :sad2: We rode the Hulk, but the ride operator had to push the harness down on me to get it to latch and it was very embarassing to me. I would not and have not tried to ride and roller coaster with a shoulder harness since then. Univeral Studios however did not give me any problems. I rode all the rides there. I wouldn't spend the money for IOA again, but would do their other park. Sea World is a great too.

Be sure to do Splash mountain, Tower of Terror, and all the 3D shows are awesome too.
