Hi all

I have a couple of bigger size people in our vacation party and they are a bit concerned about rides at Universal/IOA... I want to help them to feel comfortable so maybe with a bit of knowledge, I could do that!

Any tips or experiences you could share? What about Dueling Dragons???

Thanks so much!
Lisa

On both Hulk and Dueling Dragons, rows 3 & 6 each have one seat made to accomodate those with larger upper body dimensions. There are test seats outside both attractions that you can check before boarding the ride. At Hulk, when you get to the front of the queue, just tell the attendant that one in your party will need the larger seat. On DD, there is no attendant as you get to the front of the queue. Just be sure to position yourself in row 3 or 6.

Although there are no larger size seats on the following rides, they do have test seats out front so you can check out the dimensions before boarding: Dr. Doom at IOA, and Men In Black and the Mummy at USF.

Hope this helps.

We are just back and it was row 5 on the Hulk we used since we had one party member who was too squished in a regular seat. He was much more comfy in the modified seat.

I need the bigger seats on Hulk and DD. When getting on the Mummy I asked them if they had larger seats and they told me to sit in the last row.

There was a large man with his family in line ahead of me, he couldnt get the bar closed enough, they all got off and waited for the next car and sat in the last row with no problem.

Definately have them check with the ride op. There is nothing more embarrassing than not fitting and having to wait for the next car!!!

MIB is one you shouldn't worry about. The seats are big, the seatbelts can accommodate very large people, and the lap bar stops clicking when it hits the first person (which is usually me, but I have ridden several times where there is a substantial amount of space between the bar and myself.)

Hi! Thanks to everyone for their help

Slacking- can I ask your experience on any of the other rides? Did you try Dueling Dragons or the Mummy??

Thanks for any tips :)

Slacking is not a bigger person but he is an MIB expert. He is correct about any size being able to ride MIB.

Mummy is not as accomodating as some of the other rides. The only way to tell on Mummy is to try the test seat out front. Dueling Dragon does have some rows to accomodate larger individuals and can handle it better than Mummy. I have seen some larger adults fit on the Mummy and others who didn't look particularly large who couldn't fit. Most rides, if the lapbar fits, you are OK but on Mummy they also have a leg bar.

My apologies to Slacking...I must have misread his post....

Thanks for al the great info everyone!

His head is the only thing big about him. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :hyper:

Hi! We went to Universal this summer, and my mother and I couldn't ride either the Hulk or Dueling Dragons. The problem: the chest area. When we tried the test seats outside of the attraction, the upper restraint would not close (Dueling) or closed but was so uncomfortable so as to be impractical (Hulk, and the prospect of riding with that tight fit was probably more scary than the ride itself). I would say that anyone with a chest size > 50 in. (sizes around 28+ or 30+ in women's sizes) may have a problem. I am a size 26-28 on top, and although I could wedge into both seats, I was so uncomfortable that I just didn't do it.

Plus, to be honest, I needed to go hide after the whole ordeal of trying to get into the test seats. ;)

Every other ride was fine. Tried the Mummy seats outside and was perfectly comfortable, but the ride itself was closed because of technical difficulties.

As for bottoms (seat size, leg room), I'm a 20-22 bottom and 5' 9 1/2 and had enough hip room and leg room on all the rides.
