Riders stuck on Forbidden Journey

I'll admit I had a brief panic attack the first time I was ever stuck on FJ but I was on my back by the whomping willow and I have a minor claustrophobic thing about being "trapped" that was triggered by the shoulder harness. DH quickly calmed me down by reminding me how much I'd love it if we got evacuated. Even when I was panicking, 911 never crossed my mind. We were stuck for about 10 mins. Then, on a solo trip a couple trips later I got stuck long enough for the lights to be turned on. No panic as I was too busy taking photos and video. I can understand getting scared, but 911? Get a grip!

Calling 911 was brilliant, lol.Wish I had thought of that a couple of years ago when we were stuck on Winnie the Pooh. I could have even claimed emotional distress due to a fear of bears, tiggers, and rabbits. Think that would have made the evening news?

Think they'll make us check fanny packs at the lockers now? :lmao: I was just getting excited thinking I wouldn't have to use lockers this next trip!

Those Heffalumps and Woozles are pretty frightening.

Yes, sadly, here in Orlando it would have been the top story (unless Casey Anthony happened to fart in prison on the same day; then the top news slot would be taken up by an analysis of the decible level, length and smell of the fart).

The first time I went on FJ we got stuck in the same place as you did, by the Whomping Willow. We were laying on our backs and leaning left (and slightly back) and were looking straight up at the branch that swings at you (my 7 year old got scared.) After that we missed the Quiddatch simulation... shame cause that's the best sim part IMO.

I think if I was stuck on a ride for an hour I may have tried to do something but just sit there, like call someone if I could reach my phone. 911 is one of the first numbers I would have thought of, not because of panic but because I wanted out. Maybe that's why they called 911, because they were tired of sitting there.

According to the latest t.v. news report......the fire chief was talking to the reporter, saying by the time they were on the scene, the ride was already being evacuated and under control. All they had to do was ask people if they were ok, etc., which they were. The reporter interviewed a couple people who had been stuck. One woman said it "was really kind of neat, except she (pointing to woman beside her) had to 'go to the bathroom' " Someone else was unhappy because all they got for their trouble was a fast pass for any ride in Is. of Adv., and it was already park closing time, so couldn't use it. Of course, then the reported had to go into the ride only being open for 5 weeks and "plagued" with shut downs. One person being interviewed said "It's a new ride, hope they get the bugs out soon."

We've ridden FJ several times since it opened, and only been stuck once...first scene after beginning to "fly". It went dark, the screen went blank, then emergency lighting came on briefly before it restarted.....blanked out next scene, then soundtrack was a bit warbly the rest of the way. What did we do when it stopped? We immediately began peering around the seats to see what "extras" we could see! Unfortunately, being in that tilted back position longer than normal must've caused car keys to fall out of pocket and into seat unnoticed. Luckily, checked when in gift shop below, went quickly back up the steps and the team member handed me keys that had been found by next rider.

I've been on both sides of a craptastic breakdown.

Back when I was working in Epcot, the ever-doomed flight of Bravo-2-2-Niner failed to reset properly after a malfunction. The vehicles are suspended a few floors in the air and reset to a home position that lines up with the entry/exit platforms. It failed to do this and was partially nose down and listing to its right side, shaking every minute or so as the system kept attempting to correct itself but failing.

Everyone working was entirely aware of what was going on, the automated spiels were playing inside the cabin, but a man in the front row was in a panic and trying to pry open the side door from his seat. We had cameras (as many rides do) and could see everything going on inside the cabin. I had to "yell" at the man via the PA to calm down and stop trying to open the door. If he opened it the situation would be far worse because it wouldn't allow the vehicle to reset once the problem with the hydraulics was fixed. Also, if he opened it there was somewhere between 20ft-40ft straight down outside of it.

Long story short - don't panic. Anything you do that screws with the system will make it harder to get you out.

Wow must be a slow news night here, just saw this on news here in Miami, it had me laughing they kept mentioning the harry potter roller coaster , and they even showed a photo of some coaster, stated how people called 911, then they showed photos of stretchers lol :scared1: Who is stupid enough to call 911 , did those people honestly think universal just forgot they were stuck there WOW

Just waiting for all the usual hater comments to fill this thread

"Disney would have had hunkier firefighters" etc

:lmao:

I'd rather see a Mickey dressed up as a firefighter helping people!!

I do think I would get quite nervous stuck on forbidden journey or any ride for that matter that I don't have my blood sugar meter! That's why I now carry it with me on Forbidden Journey. They never say anything and at least I have something with me if I get low and need to eat sugar.

Picture this, getting stuck at DW It's A Small World for 10minutes....

That would HUANT ME FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 hour and they did not turn the music off.

I refuse to ride It's a small world for that reason. I can't stand the song and I'm afraid we'll get stuck listening to it.

not to mention who was near her when she did it and was it meant as a love signal to her attorney:rotfl:
