I have a question about rider swap...
for our upcoming trip in novemeber 2 of my 4 kids will be to short to side some of the bigger rides (under 40') So my question is...

if we get fast passes for say splash mountain.. can we go through the fast pass line and still get a parent swap or do you have to wait in the regular line for rider swap?

Also my youngest still naps during the afternoon so we plan on letting her nap in the stroller while the older ones are doing rides. Can you get rider swap for the smaller rides so hubby and I can take turns going on with the kids?

Thanks for the help :)

Hopefully someone else can answer your questions, but we did rider swap the first time we went. And then we heard about single rider. If you don't mind not sitting with someone else, single rider is SO much faster. On every single ride they offer it. Just something to consider. :)

Single rider doesnt work since the older 2 will only be 6,7 so we will ride with them !!

You don't have to wait in the stand-by line, but the FP kind of defeats the purpose (maybe). Think of the Rider Switch pass as an independent thing. Example: wait in stand-by line, approach cast member (usually the same one who is collecting FP) for RS pass, one parent waits while the other rides, swap babies and RS pass, other parent goes back to the cast member. Or, if you're doing FP, one parent enters the FP line and rides, then exits and swaps the baby so the other parent can ride using their FP.

So using rider swap allows you to ride extra times with the kiddos who are tall enough and you can use it in conjunction with your FP.

So you have 6 tickets (2 adults, 4 kids). For example you will take 3 tickets and get fast passes for Space Mountain, take the other 3 tickets and get fast passes for Star Tours. Now all 6 of you go to the cast member collecting the FP at the start of the line and ask for rider swap. You will get a ticket for the other person to come back later (basically a FP that doesn't expire till the end of the month that is good for 3/4 people).

The three people will ride Space Mountain and will get off the ride and head towards Star Tours. You will meet them at the entrance to the line and ask for rider swap again. Now you can get two more sets of FP from the machines and you still have in your possession the RiderSwap (FP) for the rides from earlier; you can do this all day. It basically doubles the amount of Fast Passes and rides that you can do.

I figured the two rider limit on the rider switch might be a hindrance, but that's a smart way to use the system. Our kids are too close in age/heigh for this to really help us. Plus I don't like running all over the Park just to hit E ticket attractions.

Rider swap can be used with FP, and I recommend you use it to your advantage. It kind of sucks having everything take twice as long because you have to ride in two groups. The good news is your older kids can ride everything double. How many tickets will you have (people over 3)? If you have 6 tickets you can really use this to your advantage. You could get 3 FP for Space and 3 FP for Star Tours. Then have 3 people ride with the FP for Space and grab the child swap ticket from the CM. Then have 3 people ride Star Tours with those FP and grab the child swap ticket. The child swap tickets do not have an end time on them like FPs do. They do have a date though and must be used that day.

The Fantasyland "kiddie" rides do not offer rider swap. Generally only rides with height requirements do. We tried to do a swap on Franics' Lady Bug Boogie (kids must be able to sit) when our son was a tiny baby and they didn't allow that even though he wasn't able to ride. They just didn't have the ability to do it. My recommendation would be for one of you to stake out a cool spot while the other goes on big rides with the kids. Save the rides everyone can ride for when everyone is awake. That way your little ones aren't waiting around for the big ones and you're not splitting up all the time.

We will have 5 park tickets. Youngest will only be a year old so no ticket for her !

Does anyone know if rider swap passes can be redeemed in any of the 4 parks? Or do they have to be used in the park they were originally issued in?

We have Park Hoppers and plan to jump around between the parks on some days.

TIA:)

This is the Disneyland board, so there are only two parks. That being said, the Rider Swap pass is only valid for the attraction from which it was issued. So for example, if you get a Rider Swap pass at RSR, it can only be used at RSR.

We've done rider swap at Toy Story Mania. The CM didn't want to give us the ticket at first saying that there's no height restriction. Then we showed him DD asleep in the stroller and he begrudgingly gave us one. It was more crumpled than other rider swap tickets we got, so seems it's not used often. If you want to do Radiator Springs after dark, the swap tickets are great. Much easier than trying to catch the right FP return time.

You can still make this work for you, especially if one of your older ones is afraid of certain rides. Enjoy your trip. It can be exhausting splitting up, but sometimes it's the only way you can enjoy certain attractions.

They are ride specific at WDW and DL. The tickets (at DL anyway) are the same size as a FP ticket but come on a little notepad that CM tear off. The name of the ride and the rider swap information is on the ticket. A date is supposed to be stamped on the ticket. Sometimes tickets don't get stamped, then you could use it another day, but certainly not for another ride. If you get walked off a ride due to technical issues you could be given a FP that is good at any ride. Now at DL that is any ride in either park. But at WDW I don't know if it's constrained to one park or not. Just so you know, park hopping at WDW is a pain and involves modes of mass transportation.

Sorry missed that this was a DL board. Thanks for the info though.:thanks:
