Rider Swap with Disabled Adult

Fine, maybe the specific part of the queue but not the entire ride building. There are only so many places where guests are supposed to be. If you have somehow discovered a secret entrance or exit where you can move around undetected from CMs that would be the logical way to get to the bathroom on a mobility device I’m sure they would be very happy to hear about it, as that would likely pose a huge safety risk.
I am thinking queues like Monster's Inc at DCA where there are exits throughout the queue that are outside the building and not near the entrance or exit.

Perhaps? Monsters Inc currently has a 10 min standby wait and is never really all that busy. If you have a problem then tell the CM once you come back, especially if you tell them on the way in that you might have a problem on the way in. It’s not like people are cutting the line there on a regular basis like the more popular rides. But if your spouse really can’t reliably be in a 10-20 min queue then I don’t know what to say. Waits of longer than that are common all over Disney and have nothing to do with DAS.

There are times when that queue gets over 90 minutes (although he likely wouldn't get it in for that); however, I was using it as an example only, there are other queues with similar exits. Web Slingers at DCA is another one that does, so does Radiator Springs Racers, the list goes on and on, I only provided a single example. Again, this are just SOME of the examples of queues where this is an issue, there are plenty of others.

You obviously are very passionate about the needs of ECV users. It’s good that people have advocates. But I would be shocked if Disney made it possible to exit - and therefore enter (with help if necessary) - two of its most popular rides undetected by cast members.

Fortunately for both Webslingers and Radiator Springs cast members are very easy to find. If you do need to exit the line then simply double back to the entrance (should be on the way to the bathroom) and find them, letting them know you had to leave and asking what the procedure will be upon your return.

We do plan to apply for DAS if that matters. My sister-in-law is developmentally disabled and physically handicapped. So she may qualify. She can wait with us through a queue that is wheelchair accessible. She just won't be able to ride many rides and we don't feel comfortable leaving her to wait alone. Based on Disney's webpage (link below), it suggests that the rider switch occurs outside the attraction main entrance. Years ago I recall the rider switch area being near the ride loading area. But that doesn't appear to be the case per the website description.

If she can wait in a standard queue with you, be prepared that she will not qualify for DAS. DAS has been revamped over and over again, becoming more restrictive each time. If she can wait in a queue, she would not need DAS, IMO. If the queue is not wheelchair accessible, then at each attraction the CM will tell you what to do.

Yet, DH has exited both of those with an ECV in the past without going near CMs or going in any non-guest facing areas, there are plenty of other attractions where this can happen as well.
