Rider Swap question

This in itself is atrocious. This is a multi billion dollar company. For heavens sake, they should get their message straight.

One thing I've learned about Disney is that there are mixed messages all over the place. I know I just kind of have to roll with it.

So, DS5 says he is too scared for HM and ToT (tall enough for it).

Assuming we can get him to go through the queue, can anyone confirm they can do a switch at exit for these two rides specifically?

So Disney replied to me. Sure seems like official line is as website states that rider switch is for guests too short OR who don't want to ride. If a CM stays otherwise, guest relations or supervisor should be contacted. Here's the email I received:

She provided her contact info which I have removed for obvious reasons. I will certainly be testing this on our upcoming trip, as my 9 year old boy WILL NOT ride everest, despite being more than tall enough.

Glad you got a response! I did notice that she didn't say you would be issued a paper rider switch pass. I would suggest being prepared to do another type of swap including switching at the exit after everyone waits the line together if you don't get the paper pass.
Have a great trip!

If you have 5 adults & 1 baby, could 4 ride, then the one who stayed with baby could ride (How many could ride with 2nd rider?)

Just had an experience with this and wanted to share...

We have a seven year old girl with autism. We went up to the CM at Seven Dwarfs and asked for a rider swap, explaining that she was terrified. The CM looked at her and said she was big enough to ride. We said that she was still scared though... and we mentioned the policy on the website. The CM said our girl would be fine and we could simply leave her by herself. This was when we explained her autism and that she has "panic attacks" when she's alone or with strangers... especially in large crowds. The CM laughed, as if we were overreacting, and stated again that she'd be fine. We know it's never that easy, but apparently the CM knows our daughter better than us. At this point, our girl started freaking out because she thought she was being forced on the ride. She began crying hysterically and doing one of her motor tics that involves her balling her fists really tight "to deal with the pressure." The CM saw this and turned away... proceeding to assist another guest.

We obviously did not get a rider swap so we gave up and left. There was no way we could leave her alone, especially after her episode.

I'm not even mad we were denied, but the way the CM handled that situation put me in a terrible mood.

Like other people, I've found that the rider swap isn't consistently enforced.

I asked to switch at one attraction (I forget which) and the CM didn't understand me at all. At the end of the conversation, he told me in an angry tone that no, he wasn't able to watch my toddler whilst we went on the ride :rotfl:

We gave up and went to a different CM later in the day!

I always have to show a kid that is too short for a swap pass in order to get it. I've also had no issue getting it for TOT when my son who is certainly high enough won't go on it because he is scared of thunder and lightning.
