I want to make sure I understand the policy correctly. I have ready many conflicting reports...

If my child doesn't meet the height restrictions (they will not be allowed to enter the que correct???): Adults head to ride enterance (with child) and tell the CM we would like to do a rider swap. Adult rides while child goes off somewhere else with other adult. Adult that rides will be given a rider swap ticket for other adult later to use. When returning the other adult can ride with the rider swap ticket through the fast pass line.

I guess this is where I'm confused...Where do you enter if it's not a fastpass ride? Do we all enter together (as long as child meets the height requirement) and one waits at the loading area with the child and switch there? But that doesn't always work when the unloading area is different from the loading area.

I hope this makes sense! First time going with a 20 month old and want to be prepared.

Ok, I'll try to help. We've used rider swap a lot. You are correct that you take the non riding child to the queue to get your switch pass and then can go do something else while the riding adult goes on the ride. The passes will tell you where to return to, it's usually the FP line, but with Space Mountain we've also returned through the exit, so read the pass.

Some rides do not have FP queues, ie. Matterhorn. With Matterhorn you can go to the entrance where the queue splits into two covered areas. The CM will let you go in there, essentially skipping the long snaking line. We had a weird experience trying to do rider swap on Francis Ladybug Boogie as non sitters can't ride. When taking our oldest on the Jelly Fish they let us just swap after the ride was over. That queue is usually short, so it wasn't a big deal to just let us swap out. I guess some rides don't offer rider swap, especially if they don't have a height requirement. If you're unsure the best thing is to ask the attending CM.

Also, the rider swap pass is good for 3 people. So if you have other children who are tall enough, they can ride twice!

And yes, rider swap is only for the rides with a height minimum where a child with you is not at that minimum height.

I have gotten rider swap for Toy Story mania When we had the baby sleeping in the stroller they let us swap even though there is no height requirements for that ride !!

So all rides that don't have fast passes or height requirements it just kind of depends on the type of ride, the que and or the CM.

It also works well combined with a single rider line. The return is typically via a FP line.
