Ridemax - worth it if you'll be there for 4 days?

Hydroguy,

Thanks for the info. Thanks for the hotel rule too. Is there any way to port or transfer the ridemax data into excel without manually punching it in? or maybe a shortcut?
The RideMax output is displayed on an HTML page. I copy and paste their output into Excel. So minimal retyping.

HydroGuy,

I got the ridemax program and I am trying to get the different wait times for various rides to put in excel. Is there an easier just punching in a sample tour and extracting the info that way? Can I tell ridemax I want to do space mountain at 10am,then 11am,12pm etc? How did you do it?

i'd be interested in Hydroguy's take on this.. but here is what i came up with.

1) set the hours you will be at the park in the options

2) instead of running multiple itineraries using many rides, just pick 1 attraction

For example,

If you are interested in the wait times for POTC for the entire day, add POTC to the "Attractions | Plan to ride" column as many times as possible. I usually start off around 20-25 and go from there. Sometimes you will get a warning that there are more attractions than allotted hours. In this case, just delete a couple of the POTC entries.

Then using the output itinerary, you can average the wait times. Break it up
by the hour or half hour.

Then repeat for each ride.

I'm not sure how to work in FastPass rides B/C wait time vary if you have a FP or not.

Thats exactly what I did DisneyMDman. It took a while to do and to make all the notes and it doesn't take into account having fast passes but it still gives you rough ideas for regular wait times for the day. I would run off a couple of ridemax day plans, morning and afternoon plans for each day and then have the ride info too to make best judgements as the day goes on. I think we will reevluate our plans during our free time breaks if they are not working for whatever reason.

DisneyMDman,

I'm trying the method of putting the ride multiple times on the itinerary but the data doesn't seem to make much sense. For instance the wait time is exactly the same for alice in wonderland from 11am-5pm using this method. I wonder if you put on the same ride multiple times does ridemax screw up the wait times?

wish i could help you out.. but August will be my first trip to DL, so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the wait times.

I'd like to know that too please as I have noticed similar problems with the data I have worked out (only mine was on Honey I shrunk the audience). Thanks.

No problem Danauk I'll let you know when I get back for DL. Thanks for confirming my theory. It's seems kind of a pain to exact the wait times...you never know when the program is gonna put in free time on your schedule. I wish there was an easier way....

I am wanting to try RideMax but am still unsure of it. Is it really worth it?? I am afraid I will drive my family crazy with my organization. I want to have everything all thought out and planned. I dont want to stand in line alot in the Heat in July. I would much rather get there early and do as much as possible. Swim in the afternoon and come back early evening to enjoy a few more things. Is this doable?:tinker: :earboy2:

That is definatley doable. I have run a few different scenarios each has had a minimum break time of 3 hours, sometimes 4 1/2 and I am wanting to do quite a few rides. I think it is definately worth it, you can run different scenarios and print them out. You do not have to stick to them but the data will allow you to make more educated desisions once you are there. I think the ammount of money you spend of a DL trip whats another $15!

Sorry for the delayed response. I am traveling in Europe on business and had limited Internet access this week.

In any case, I am a computer and math geek and do some kind of advanced things with the RideMax output, but DisneyMDman's suggestions is what I would recommend for mere mortals. :)

...on my way to Disneyland Paris tomorrow!

Trey if you are going to DLP tomorrow don't forget to go into the basement of the castle!! Oh and do the Alice in Wonderland maze, I wish they had that at WDW and DL!!

Trey,

Thanks for the info. Some of the data from ridemax looks strange on my spreadsheet(alice in wonderland having the same wait time from 11am-5pm. Have you noticed this? I was wondering if you were on vacation cause nornally you are always posting and I hadn't see you on the board in a few days. Have fun at DL Paris !!!

Thanks,
Matt
