RideMax Users Thread (FAQs Linked in First Post!)

Happily using the new ridemax on my iPad can life get an better. Oh right being in disney would be better yet :)

I downloaded this today at work and played around with it a bit at lunch. I saw the notice about the beta but dsnt pay enough attention to it. And I can't figure out how to get it on my iPhone. Ant help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I searched the thread for any answers to this and couldn't find any:
What do you do with the Ridemax plan if you get to an attraction and find out that it's down? Do you just skip ahead to the next? Or do a little shopping or coffee break? I'm sure that there must be some commonsense answer here but somehow I can't wrap my brain around it--especially if it's a longer attraction like a show.

We're planning a trip and would like to get as much done, especially at DHS--somehow I find that we always do a lot of backtracking there. And last time we were there the plan went all wrong, we overslept and didn't get to the park until 45 minutes after opening so our FPs for TSM were for 1:30 pm. The kids didn't get picked for the Jedi Training...Indiana Jones was closed, it rained so hard that they cut Backlot Tour short, same with Lights Motors Action, we couldn't get FPs for RnR...my BIL (1st timer) was so annoyed that he said he never wants to go back there. I figured that Ridemax would help us hit the things we want to see there so we can make the most of our time there.

If an attraction is down, you just move on to the next thing and are ahead of schedule. It does allow you more wiggle room if you decide you want to use that time to get some ice cream or something. Of course, if the next thing is a show that is at a certain time, definitely will want to find something else to do while waiting. Usually you won't have time to stand in some random line, but this would be a good time to take pictures, shop, get a snack, or go to the restroom. You will have to do some of your own thinking here if skipping to the next thing is not a good fit for some reason.

Well, let me try to help here. I've used Ridemax two years now, for two weeks in the parks each time, and found it to be great.

Now, that doesn't mean that you are going to accomplish everything on your plan every day. First and foremost, accept that life happens, things go wrong, when life gives you lemons, make lemonaide . . .Enjoy it!

Now then, with that in mind, the Ridemax plans are based on what time you make it to each attraction. Changing that timing, even if getting there ahead of time, can alter the wait times, and not always in a good way :confused3

When we get to an attraction on our list, and find that it is closed, we use that time for potty breaks, a drink, a little picture taking, a splash in a fountain for DS7, but we are mindful of the time, so that we make it to the next attraction on our list at the right time.

I am also careful to make our touring plans so that they are usually finished by early / mid afternoon. That leaves the later part of the day for just wandering around, and impromptu experiences, and gives us time to back track, and see things that might have been closed, or revisit favorite attractions!

The MOST IMPORTANT THING though, just be comfortable with the fact that things WILL go wrong. Your touring plan is a guideline. Under optimum conditions, it will allow you to get the most done in your day, with the least time wasted waiting in lines, but even if things go wrong, and you miss attractions, you are there to have fun, do it! And, keep in mind that you are still using a plan that allows you to spend less time waiting in line, so no matter how many things you miss, you would have seen even LESS without the touring plan.

I emailed them on Monday re. the August calendar and they replied within a few hours with this message:

Hello,

We currently expect August dates to be available by the end of this week or early next.

I'm confuzzled!

I am trying to make a plan for MK on a Sunday 8/28- I know I have to choose a day similar in crowd level and hours so I picked 8/25.

Start time for us is 4PM and even though the 28th closes at 9PM and 25th is 10PM we will be staying for the PM EMH through till midnight if we can. I put in 9PM Parade but we will actually be watching wishes then.

Here's my conundrum-
We would like to do Tom Sawyers Island and I put it in the list of things and it spit out that we should do it at 10PM. I thought that they close TSI down at dusk? Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks:confused:

OK, confusing question--here goes........DS wants to do Jedi Training at HS. How do you configure Ridemax at HS when your need to build in time for a group to wait and get the pass that says what show your child will be in? I can't figure out how to build in the wait time in that line and also how to put the actual show that we will get into the schedule? :confused3

What I would do:

Arrive early before RD - get in front for park opening show. Send DH to get TSM FPs and I will RUN with DS and DD to JTA. I assume when I do this that my kids get into Shows 1, 2 or 3 (unless SW weekends).

So I would run RM for each showtime. But first, begin by running RM arriving at RD leaving 2-3 hrs later, put TSM on my TP along with HISTK and ST (near JTA). Do this to check how long RM thinks it will take to get TSM FPs and walk to JTA - it should be shorter than the wait time at JTA, but things can vary, then move to the 3 plans.

Re-run RM with arrival at RD (no TSM in the TP but everything else you wanna do) and a break near ST/JTA until about the45-min to 1-hr after RD to make sure you cover a reasonable wait to get kids into a show (can always check the DIS to see what lines are like and when people get outta the line). Do this 3 times (or more) selecting each potential show time you want to plan around and see what you get. You can easily fit using the TSM FPs into any plan while at the park - you should have a break sometime to use the FPs and not throw off the itinerary - just watch showtimes.

Couldn't seem to find these answers. If they're in there somewhere, sorry. First I've used TouringPlans for their lines app a lot. Never use the plans for DL because we're AP for DL and often just go for a few hours in the afternoon or evening, so the plans aren't that important to us, but we're headed for our first trip to WDW, and I'm planning. I just got Ridemax after reading these reviews and noticed that Ridemax and TouringPlans have opposite recommendations for some of the days for which park to go to on any particular day. For instance on a particular Sunday in August TouringPlan recommends going to MK, avoiding HS, with AK & EP as neutral. Ridemax recommends HS, AK, and EP while avoiding MK. I don't know which to believe. I know Ridemax seems to completely depend on whether EMH are offered that day for recommending a park, while TP uses past statistical data. Any of you actually used both and can give an opinion as to which one is more accurate for a park recommendation on a particular day.

2nd, how do you get Ridemax to stop putting in an evening break? I created a plan where we're not arriving until 6 (spending the day at a water park), and the plan has a "break" from 6-7 and doesn't have us going to an attraction until 7. When I change the entrance time to 5, it still gives us an hour break around 6. How can I get rid of this break?

Put in more attractions. It places the attractions you select where the wait times result in the lowest total. In your case that happens to mean riding what you selected later than you arrive. So you either can add more attractions to fill up that time, or do something else when you arrive. Grab a mickey icecream or something :)

I didn't realize that Ridemax gives park recommendations for each day. Where do I find this info? I've been using TP and EasyWDW for park recommendations to plan which park on which day. I figure if they're both in agreement about best and worst park then that's a good sign. I'd be interested in checking out Ridemax's recos too, if someone could point me in the right direction?

As far as the evening break, I would play around with adding more attractions or a shorter touring time (I'm assuming you've already deleted any breaks in your options too). The reason why it gives you that break and then has some attractions grouped at the very end is to minimize your waiting time. Lines should be shorter for certain rides at the end of the day.

When you open ridemax and your at the part where your selecting the rides you want, down the center is a button marked Tips & Tricks click it. Then a web page will open on the left there is a list of options one being Which day Which park. then you will have 3 months posted with their recomondations.

Of course! Thanks. :) I guess I just wasn't paying much attention to this because my dates aren't available yet.
