On what rides is it okay to take pictures on (I know not to use the flash, I don't want to be one of those people who annoy everyone around them)? I've never taken pictures on any of the rides but have seen people around me taking photo's. DH and I usually rush through the parks but this year will be taking our time and want to get lots of photos. Thanks for any help.

Off the top of my head the Rock n' Roller Coaster is the only ride I can think of where photography is not permitted. As far as I can recall everything else is fine aside from flash restrictions as you mentioned.

I think it is also prohibited on the Disneyland Tower of Terror (but not the Orlando one). It is occasionally banned for unknown reasons on other attractions. It used to be OK on the Carousel of Progress, but it was forbidden the last time I was there.

It is also banned for some non-ride attractions. It used to be forbidden at the Finding Nemo show but now you are told that it is allowed and not allowed during the introduction. I think that means it is OK for me but not OK for GDad.

If I recall, the Hall of Presidents no longer allows photography. That's probably because they've had complaints from guests woken up by the shutter clicking sounds.

It makes sense for the RnR as there isn't really a way to get a good picture on it. Maybe someone with a D3 and an f1.2 lens might be able to get something, but what? And the ride is so fast and wild that it is not worth the risk of having that persons D3 slip and crush your skull.

I think it is also banned on the movie parts of Universe of Energy ride at Epcot, but I don't recall for sure.

It is no longer allowed on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at the Magic Kingdom, but that is almost certainly because that ride is no longer there.

Is it allowed on the Dinosaur ride at the Animal Kingdom? I see to recall it not being allowed. Maybe I'm just remembering having my camera smack me in the face on one of the bumps and thinking that someone should have warned me not to be so stupid.

Companies that sell cameras strongly encourage you to use yours on the Kali River Rapids (unless you bought an extended warranty that protects you in case your camera gets soaked).

Are you sure about RnRC? I took photos on there last trip with no problems at all, including while waiting for launch - the CMs surely could see my camera out.

I did take photos on the Dinosaur ride last trip and IIRC it was only the usual "no flash photography" warning. Of course, the shots were pretty universally bad, I mainly pointed in the general direction and hoped. I got a few blurs. :)

Visiting a local amusement park recently, I was surprised at how restrictive they are. I got scolded for even taking photos on the carousel! Disney is really extremely liberal in this regard.

A while back I was told no photography in the line where you watch the video of Aerosmith and saw they had signs as such posted inside the 'studio' then the next time a few months later the signs were gone but they still said it. As far as I know it was always the rule on the ride itself but the rule for the line/queue was new. Someone in an earlier thread on this topic suggested it was a licensing situation with the band.

I got yelled at Bugs Life in the AK. I had NO flash on but a NASTYYYYY cast member came flying over to me screaming DURING the show. Like walked through the aisle to come find me and I was in the middle of the row. I think she was just having a REALLY bad day. I even made my friend who lives in FL go back and see if they say anything and she said they only mention flash photography and I'm 100% positive I know how to work my Rebel xti. There was definitely NO FLASH! I should have gotten the cast members name and written a 'lovely' letter to Disney just to make her day that much better. hmph!

In general though I think it's mainly no flash photography unless they explicitly say no photos at all. Just keep an ear open when they're ushering you onto the ride. :)

A CM came up to me during the Finding Nemo show (Where now they say no FLASH photography or EXTERNAL VIDEO LIGHTING) and just glared at me taking pictures for what seemed like 1/2 the show. I had the flash AND the rear LCD both off so as not to disturb other guests. Not sure what her problem was but she left after 10 minutes and never said a word. :confused3

Is it possible that the CM saw the flashing of an auto-focus assist light? Some cameras have a small white light that shines when the camera struggles to focus in low light. While it is nowhere near as disturbing as a flash, an overzealous CM might mistake it for a flash.

Is that show still schizophrenic? The last time I went, the CM's said no flash photography but they still had the old pre-recorded message saying that all photography was forbidden. I just assumed that meant that it was OK for me to do non-flash photography but that no one else should take any pictures.

As of April, they made it clear that during the Nemo photo, photography was permitted as long as it's not using a flash. As I understand it, the D300 and D700 do have a white AF assist light, but I'd assume that Gdad would know that and have turned it off? :confused3

FWIW, a CM did come down to our row during the show. I had my 50-135mm F2.8 on (a fairly good-sized lens) but that was fine, it was the woman sitting to our left who was occasionally taking a flash photo that the CM had to talk to.

I could swear that Bug's Life said no flash only - if a CM had given me a hard time, I would have said something at Guest Relations (even if I didn't know the name.)

I still don't remember any mentions of no photography on the RnRC ride itself. Last trip, I took photos in the queue and while waiting for the ride to launch and had my camera clearly out and in my hand at all times and nobody said anything. I think I had the same experience last trip, too.

Yes exactly.

I took pics on almost every ride, except the dark fast moving ones, like space mountan Rnrc, dinosaur.
