Hello Everyone!!

I need some opionns/advice with regards to all the attractions!!

Im going in October with the whole family, and & I have 1 DS who will be 27 months old. My understanding is....any rides without a height restriction he can go on right?? He's 32 inches at the mo, but im sure he wont grow much taller between now and then.

Just wondering if any of you have taken a child around my DS age?? How did they find it? Is there much for him to go on? Haunted Mansion at MG has no age restriction & Pirates of the Carribean so could he ride them?? :confused3 Or would you personally think its too scary?! I really dont know!!! So anyone with experience i would love to hear from you!!!!

:thumbsup2

ps is there a site which lists ALL the attractions? xx THANKS!! xx

We first took DD when she was 4 and the only ride that freaked her out was Snow White.

It all depends on the child but do bear in mind that a lot of the gentler rides and shows are fairly dimly lit so if your son is afraid of the dark that may be a concern.

We found the Unofficial Guide book gave fairly good descriptions of the rides and we'd read it each morning before we left the hotel. I also use this site a lot

DD is now 15 and it's me that whimps out on the rides.

Janine any ride without height restrictions are OK but be prepared ,& only you will be able to tell, for instance Pirates & HM -although both aren't scary both are dark-this terrified our then 3 year old. My best advice would be to get your hands on an Unofficial Guide to WDW,as well as detailing everything & I mean everything ,it also gives each ride a detailed write up & a rating per age group & it's funny to boot!
I would take/buy a cheap stroller, your little one maybe happy toddling about but the parks are huge & although you can rent at the park entrance it adds up over the span of the holiday.Always have plenty of water /juice on hand even in October it will be hot -high 20's low 30's-this in particular holds for AK,the way the park has been designed it just holds the heat in & even as an adult you can feel yourself wilt!
These boards are full of advice so just ask,my parting bit of advice as far as the little one is concerned is don't put pressure on yourself to have the "perfect" holiday,we asked our little one evryday what he wanted to do & everyday it was the same answer- the pool!
SD:thumbsup2

Definately take your own pushchair, I'd use an umbrella fold that reclines, with sunshade if possible. 2 reasons, the strollers you can rent, as well as adding up as expensive, I've let to see a toddler look comfortable in (OK for 3,4 5 yr olds). Also it can be quite a walk from where you park your car to park gates.

I agree Unofficial Guide is full of useful tips for every-one, including those travelling with young children, and also as said on previous posts gives details about rides.

Have a great time:thumbsup2

We have 3 boys, our youngest is 25 months & has been going to WDW since he was 4 months old.
In our experience it is not only the dark rides that can scare them, but also the loud ones. When my middle boy was just under 3 we went to see Mickeys Philarmagic & that was the most scared he has ever been. It was simply to loud for him. He is 6 now & can still remember it!
We have always had an open mind. Our youngest loves things like Figment, Its a small world & the shows.
One little tip that may help is that many of the biscuits in the US are sweet or cookies that melt if you take them to the parks. We always take a double pack of digestives, milk buscuits or rich tea with us from home & put them in a sealable tub & take them to the parks. They dont melt, can be eaten on the move & can take kids mind off some of the rides that can be quite long.
That is in addition to fruit & lots of water.
Ours also always had a sleep during the day. There are plenty of places to find some shade & chill out yourself while the others in your group go on some of the other rides.

Our DS was 3 when he 1st went, took him on anything he was allowed to go on, never a problem with anything, all children are different.

Our DD has been a few times and is now 4. Can't remember the exact ages but she is fine with Pirates but not so much with Haunted Mansion. Not scared exactly but has no frame of reference, now she is more aware she would spend the rest of the day with questions about why people die, her PopPop died last year and she is still trying to understand why he isn't there when we visit Granny. A couple of years ago fine with both in fact she loves dancing to YoHo Pirates life for me and looks forward to seeing the pirates as much as Mummy does Captain Jack. She will do Philarmagic but no other 3D but neither will her Mum.

I think the year she turned 32" we took her on everything she could including the coasters (from which she has never looked back) That year she even went Barnstorming for real at Fantasy of Flight in the 1950's bi-plane we took my Dad up for his 60th birthday and she loved it.

We use youtube alot or find photos to explain the ride and what it might be like without giving any nice suprises away. If she doesn't want to try then that's fine there is so much to do anyway. She didn't want to do Buzz lightyear when we went to DLP even though we were sure she would like it (and had been on it before) but had tears that she wasn't quite tall enough for Tower of Terror stood under it looking up! :confused3
