Ride height requirements

Going to Disney Jan 1-8 with our 3 year old son. He is currently just over 39" barefoot and about 40 1/2" with his tennis shoes. There are a lot of rides with a 40" height requirement, such as Soarin, Splash Mountain, BTMR, Test Track, Tower of Terror, etc. Just curious if anybody knows how accurate the measurements are at Disney. Is it a true 40" or is it closer to 41" so that they err on the side of caution. Don't want to get him too hyped up to ride just in case he can't. Thanks in advance for your help

From what I have read it's fairly accurate.

Practice having him stand tall. His head needs to hit the bar that is at 40".

My DD is a shortie and I know they let her pass through on a couple of rides that she wasn't tall enough for "technically" because we had her stand up tall and her hair stood up a little higher that day!! Since we were never really sure if she would be able to go or not then we always told her that we weren't sure if she would be tall enough so we would have to measure her...she seemed to be good with that!!

Soarin is one that she missed out on, but she's looking forward to it this time around!

With another five months to go before your trip there is a good possibility that your DS will be 100% up to and even past the bottom of the bar since he is already so close to the 40" height. The bars are mounted in the floor and are pretty accurate.

Thanks for all the info guys...we have been working hard at the stand up tall and look straight ahead...he always wants to stand of his tip-toes when we do that. hehe...hopefully by january he won't have any problem.. DW and I are pumped to take him on Soarin and Splash Mountain (if it's warm enough), but still unsure about Tower of Terror...he's never been on any ride quite like that before...fingers crossed...thanks again for all your help

Last year DS was very close. He made it on some and was turned away from others. One day he rode Soarin, the next day he was "too short". He was tall enough at the entrance to Test Track, but was turned away at the boarding area. There really is no guarantee if they're close since it's up to the discretion of the CM.

That said, the week after our trip when DS went for a check-up they said he was only 38.5" So I would really think that if the child is over 40" barefoot s/he should have no problems meeting the height requirements.
