Ride from Mco to DTD hotels

we'll have to stay our first night off site (airfare was $120 cheaper BUT there are no DVC rooms anywhere) So in my attempt to save a few bucks I will have to pay for a room and transportation from the airport.

The Doubletree website says "15 minutes from Orlando international airport" I double checked to make sure I was on the Downtown disney Doubletree site.

Does this sound right? I thought the ride was more like 40 minutes. I'm looking at about $100 for a car service, but a 15 minute cab ride shouldn't be too much $.

Do any DTD hotels have shuttle service from the airport?

Here is a fact sheet on the Doubletree --

I don't know if the non-Disney hotels have airport shuttles. I think not, but I'm not really certain of that.

The trip from MCO is longer than 15 minutes; more like 40-45 in our experience. A cab would be costly, $60 or more depending on traffic. If cost-costing is a high priority, think about using Mears for your trip to the hotel and book Magical Express for your outbound trip. You can use ME one-way.

I would say more like 30-35 mins to MCO from Doubletree. And you will have to pay to get to the Doubletree from MCO. Then you will have to pay to get over to WDW. Have you considered booking a value resort, at WDW, and then being able to use DME to get there? Then, Disney will move your luggage to the other resort for you.
That really makes more sense.

goofy4tink Thanks, yes we tried that first (well after we tried to book any dvc room with our points) but there are no values available. The cheapest room I was quoted for that night was $330 for AKL with my DVC discount (so with the dining plan for the night it was $480). They told me to just keep checking the Disney website as the availability is accurate. Yesterday I saw an all star family suite for $299 for the 5 of us.

Since there are 3 adults and 2 kids (10 & 13) it looks like a suite $119 w/continental breakfast and the cost of transportation/other meals would be about the same as the all star.

I'll keep checking to see what's available.

UPDATE: whoohoo!! Just got our 2 bedroom villa at Kidani!! Anyway thanks for the help!!
