I’m a bigger girl, I weight around 300lbs and I’m 5'5 tall. I’m hoping to lose more weight by October 8th when i go on my honeymoon.

Anyways my question is there any rides that i may not be able to ride because of my size. I’ve had bad experiences at other amusement parks because of my size. It’s usually because of my breast gets in the way of the shoulder bars coming down far enough to lock. My husband has said that I should not have any problems but I’m still concerned. This will be my first trip to Disney world and it’s also my honeymoon I would hate something like this to ruin it. IF anyone can give me some tips or tricks or any rides that i might not be able to ride would be great!!
:confused3

Disney is VERY "Pooh-Sized" friendly. I'm back to being Fluffy myself (5'6, 260ish) and the only ride I'm concerned about is Sum of All Thrills.

You might have trouble with the shoulder harness on RockNRollercoaster (I've had trouble getting it closed over my girls, even at 170 pounds) but other than those two, you should have nothing to worry about

no worries!!! i'm pooh-sized. Right there around where you are # wise, and i'm 5'6. There isn't a single thing that I cannot ride at any park at disney. I haven't done Star Tours because it was closed the first time I went to dhs, but I've heard that I should be fine. Test track at epcot was a little bit of a tight squeeze, and I've heard if you have any issues with your knees, it could be a little hard getting out of the ride vehicles at Space Mountain and Splash Mountain. Oh, and the turnstile at the Carousel of Progress... No ma'am. Just... No. (as a side note, my fairly average sized... lets call her "kanga-sized" friend (she's pretty slim but has a tooshy) had problems with the turnstiles at Carousel of Progress) If you want to do it... then ask CM if they'll let you in the gate.

As far as "the girls" lol I cannot ride a single over-the-shoulder harnessed coaster at universal or busch gardens. There was absolutely NO problem what-so-ever with Rock N' Roller Coaster at hollywood.

A website that helped me feel confident that i could go and enjoy myself... google walt disney world at large, it'll take you to a site with descriptions of the vehicles and pictures of the seats. I guarentee you you'll be fine! :) I loved being able to do everything so much that I got an annual pass. ;)

You will have no issue, not even on RNRC. That one might be uncomfortable on the girls but you should be able to do it....trust me. ;)

There are a few threads that you should read that will help put your mind at ease. IN the "Tips" forum, read the "everything Pooh sized" thread. There is plenty of pages of experience of doing disney over weight.

Also on Allears.net there is a "doing Disney large" thread/article that is very reassuring.

But I can say from experience that I have been able to ride every ride. The only 2 I haven't even tried is Mission Space (get claustrophobic) and Sum of all thrills. But it isn't because I can't, just don't like those rides.

Disney is very good about including every body style when designing the rides. They are NOT like other amusement parks where only the tinest of people can ride. (six flags, universal, cedar point...etc).

Some tips I can offer you would be these:
If there is a seat belt, make sure to pull it all the way out before trying to latch it. Also put your ride partner on the side it latches. That way if you have difficulty they can help you. (I do this as the "girls" sometimes get in the way and I can't see the latch)
Some others say to pull the belt out before you sit down. I don't, but this helps others, so remember that too.

If there is a lap bar and you are having a tight squeeze, cross your legs at your ankles. This drops your thighs and therefore your "middle" isn't as in the way.

I carry all my weight in the chest/abdomen area. So my legs have plenty of room.

One other tip I can tell you is, no one is really watching you. People are too busy having fun to see if you can fit or not. Really...I know this is something we deal with, but anytime I am there people aren't watching. It seems that only the people with the issue think about it.
I go with friends, and will voice a concern about fitting and they will say "huh?" and after I explain they go "really, don't even notice or think about that". Even DH thinks this way.
So relax, you are the only one concerned about it while standing in that line.

Lastly, I can say this. If you read everything, have tons of people tell you what I have told you, you won't believe it until you are there and SEE YOU CAN RIDE. My niece told me over and over again I would have no issue. (her DH is about 5'9 and 400 and rides everything). And guess what? It took about 5 rides until I thought, ok, I am good, I don't have to worry.

Enjoy your trip, honeymoon and congrats!!! :)

Heya-
OP, I've been in your boat, and the only one you probably won't be able to do is Sum of All Thrills, and the Design-Your-Own-Coaster in DTD. Both of those have narrowish seats that will hug your hips like crazy and a very tight over the shoulder harness. I wasn't able to do either, and I'm a 26-28 (but trying to go down little by little)... Everything else was fine, including Star Tours. If you have trouble with your knees, always grab the back of the seat in front of you- not a problem. And I've never had a CM give me any issues.

A lot of the newer rides have test seats as well, hidden away from the public view, in case you want to try them out... I remember Rock N Roller Coaster did, as well as Expedition Everest, both because of the harness/lap bar systems. Thunder Mountain did not, but it wasn't a problem. When I went, Splash Mountain didn't have the bars, but I haven't heard that it's been an issue, either. ToT and Space Mountain, Soarin' and Test Track, and anything else with a seatbelt were not a problem at all- just pull that sucker out all the way!

Disney is wonderful that way about everyone fitting, so don't stress about DISNEY! You have enough stress with the WEDDING!!! :rotfl:

I am 5'1 and 255..have gone on every ride in all four parks andonly had a problem getting OUT of space mountain (too bottom heavy :scared1:). We did go to Busch Gardens last trip and I had to have a CM literally JAM me onto their newest coaster..embarrassing....they are certainly not as "Pooh" friendly as WDW !!

Thank you everyone for your replies!! It made me feel a lot better!! Im getting really excited to go now!!! Oct 8th cant come soon enough!!:cool1:
