There are 3 of us going in our little vacation in October. Myself and my boys, two of my best friends in the whole world. We're suuuper excited. However! I have a question!

Now, it's been YEARS since I've been to DL and I don't remember a whole lot of it, just that me and my Dad went on everything in twosies.

Since there are three in our party, I'm just worried that sometimes, one of us is going to be the odd one out and going to have to be on a buggy by themselves. I know things like Splash/Space Mountain we'll be okay on, but what about indy, big thunder, tower of terror? Anyone ever gone to DL with a group of 3 before? How did you manage?

When I was younger my parents took turns since I'm an only child. For Indie, the ride seats 5 per row and so does Tower of Terror. So you won't have a problem there. For Big Thunder you'll have to split. If you guys rotate, it would be better. Thats what we used to do!

It won't be a problem. There aren't many rides where you'd have to split up and on those roller coaster type rides, they'll put you right behind the other group in your party. The only ones where you could have some challenges are Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion if everybody can't fit, but even then the person riding solo will only be alone for the ride itself.

we are a family of five. Two adults, three kids. Sometimes they would put three in a seat. (Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion) But, many times, they just had one of us sit by ourselves. Frankly, the kids LOVED taking turns being by themselves. We did warn them, that sometimes they would be with a stranger, but, we tried to avoid that (Just because you never know with some people), and we'd put the single rider in the middle of us adults.

But, all in all, really, it's no big deal. We've been dealing with it for years.

I find that typically the cm's won't put you with strangers if you're in a group with odd numbers. So for a party of five or 3 you'll more likely have someone alone than with a stranger, that's in my experience anyways.

We've had the same experience. I have ridden a couple by myself, like Peter Pan, but it didn't make me feel funny or anything, heck, when I am at Disneyland, I am just having the time of my life! :rotfl:

I did a solo day at DL last year (was there for a conference). Thinking back, for the most part I just rode alone, rather than getting put in with strangers (other rides like Pirates or Indy where there are a lot of people in each row). Actually, I don't remember there being that many single rider lines, now that I think of it (I only did DL, not DCA).

We are a family of 3 and never get split up. I would take turns riding by yourself. But you will always be put together, either in the same car of set of cars.

For things like HM, if you are all on the smaller side, I'm sure you can squeeze in.

For CA Screamin', once I'm strapped in I can't seat the person sitting next to me at all, so it doesn't even matter who is there. Which is convenient, as I've only done the Single Rider line, and I don't know the person next to me. I don't know how THEY feel about me being put next to them, but I'm fine with it since I can't see them anyway. :)

I'm sure you'll be fine. Just tell them that you're a party of 3 and they will put you near each other on the rides you have to split up for.

I've gone by myself with my 2 younger ones many times. The only times we really had to be separate was Buzz Lightyear, because I like to shoot too, and Mr. Toad since we were a little too big to fit all 3 of us. Toy Story over in DCA sits only 2 next to each other, and the third person can sit behind them in the same car, but you can't see each other. It's not too difficult to put 3 on a ride usually, you just might not always sit next to each other, but you'll be close by.

Sounds like you have a very special trip planned with your two boys! I don't know their ages (or how big they are) I can just say that my husband and I were just at Disneyland a week ago with our 17 year old daughter. We rode Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion with all three of us in the same seat just fine. The rides that I can think of where one of us had to ride alone were Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Mr. Toad, Buzz Lightyear at Disneyland and California Screamin' and Toy Story Midway Mania at California Adventure. Like other people have said the third person was always in the seat right behind the other two or in the vehicle following their's so if you put your sons together you'll be right behind them! Make some special memories on your trip! Kids grow up too fast!!!!!

hahaha, oh you're so sweet. But they're not my sons, they're two adult males who just happen to be very close friends :rotfl: This just made me chuckle!

It sounds like we may have a bit of a time getting all 3 of us onto some of these rides, but y'all have put my fears to rest! Sounds like even if sometimes we've gotta go it alone, it won't be that bad :goodvibes

Oh my gosh - I'm so sorry! :rotfl2: I was in this mood last night because my husband was working and my two kids were both off doing things with their friends and I was thinking how much I missed them being little and then read your thread . . . oh geez . . . how funny is that! Well, that is really going to be fun for you and your two good friends to go! I still think you guys might fit together in most of the rides but it won't matter if you don't. I rode by myself sometimes on our trip and had a great time. Hope you have a magical trip!

Awww, Wishes....

Related note: I think of DH and DS as "my boys" and always want to write that in trip reports and such, but the one time I did, someone thought I had 2 sons. I *wish* I had 2, no, 3, sons, but that hasn't happened yet, so I really don't want someone thinking I have 2. :) So I keep myself from using the phrase so I don't have to explain ('cuz it makes me sniffle). :upsidedow

In that case, you have nothing to worry about. We have gone to the park in odd numbers many times and always have fun! Occasionally, you will have to swap off who rides single, but for the most part, you will be together.

If this is the biggest concern of your entire vacation - you will have a great trip!

all of my past trips have been with 3 people. i never had a problem with anything except on mr. toad wild ride. that one i had to sit alone. but it was fun. other than that we fit me, hub and son on almost everyting we wanted to ride. i bet your excited not having gone for a while though. so have fun!:thumbsup2

this year im goning to have my daughter as well so we will have 4. so we will be split between parents.
