Thanks Elanie. I will have to PM OK again. I sent him all the others. I like 5 dingos in a zoo cage.

LOL Carol - 5 dingoes in a zoo cage! I too thought it had something to do with a zoo.

It's going to be a miserable evening at the LK house tonight. This morning, I opened the brand new bag of hamster food that DH bought yesterday. I opened the door of the cage and was wondering why the hamster didn't come running out as it usually does. Yep, you guessed it, it was dead. :( DS and DD are going to be very upset when I tell them. At least this one didn't die because of the dog, like the last one. I know they are going to want to get new ones, but I hope we can talk them out of it.

I'm sorry about the hamster Laura. Hopefully the kids will take the news alright. Maybe they would settle for fish as a replacement?

My MIL went to Alabama and brought Dylan back 2 hermit crabs:eek: Yeah right.....guess who is the only one feeding and watering these ugly things????believe me it sure ain't a kid!

sorry to hear about the hampster LK...and the fact that it'll be a rough night for you and the "little" k's...it's not easy dealing with "pet" issues....

my 8 year old nephew has his room almost wall to wall with fish tanks....his pride and joy are 2 "mini" sharks he has there... the part he's not connecting with is that in thinking that they need to be warm (it's winter here after all) he continues to turn up the temperature adjustments and ends up "slow cooking" some of the little guys.....he actually wanted to take them back to the pet shop because they had died and ask for new ones!!!

Oh Laura....I'm so sorry about your hampster :( Maybe it missed it's friend???

love the magic-You reminded me of when my twins were about 3. They were downstairs eating lunch & I was upstairs doing something else when they decided that the fish looked hungry....so they shared their cheese with the fish. The fish didn't live through the 'invasion of the cheese'
LOL! We told the twins that the fishies were sick!

I'm sorry to hear about the hamster LK. I hate having to tell the kids when one of the pets dies. One time DS was away and I was looking after his fish, the heater went on the fritz during the night and didn't turn off. When I got up in the morning the fish were all cooked and sucked up against the filter.:( Not a pretty sight, and not how I wanted my DS to find them, so I had to deal with it myself, and explain to him what had happened. I don't have good luck with the pets when he's away. His first lizard died after less than 24 hours in our house. Yep! You guessed it! DS bought him and then went away for a night leaving me to look after it and it died! I swear it wasn't my fault!!!! Honest!!! I kind of liked the little critter! His replacement is doing very well (touch wood!) and the pet store said that there must have been something wrong with the first one.

We also have fish. We have a small whiskey barrel that we fill up with water during the summer months so we can have an outdoor "pond". It looks really nice with the fountain also. Last summer, the fountain knocked over during a wind storm and promptly pumped almost all of the water out of the barrel. Only 1 fish survived that ordeal, so I was the lucky one who had to drive around to 3 pet stores looking for fish who "matched" before the kids could figure out what happened. My plan worked pretty well, although Leah was wondering how her fish could shrink. :p
I guess these little "Circle of Life" lessons will help when it comes time to deal with people who will pass on.
Baboo - DS is probably real suspicious of you handling his pets! Hope you have better luck with the second lizard!

I'm a little nervous right now since he's away for a couple of days, but DD is in charge of the lizard this time.;)

Hey Steph......are we ready for a thread title change????? It's getting to be time to shake things up around here:p

:Pinkbounc Big bump for tonight. Will anyone be around to chat? I am getting to leave work now but will be back later.

It's not much fun blaming John if he's not around to cause any trouble:rolleyes:

LK-I'll be around:D

Whaddja have in mind??

I'm open to suggestions....

hmmmm...........we could try something like............
RMC....Where oh where is our Fearless Leader or
RMC....The inmates are now running the asylum or
RMC....Inspiration-less
we still gotta slam him ;) :p

Just wanted to say hi! Would you believe I have to study? I have a securities license for work and have to take a re-certification exam every 3 years.

The original exam was awful (I took that 5 years ago) and I don't want to lose my license and have to take that again! The renewal exams aren't as bad, it's a computer-based test and it basically tells you if you've chosen a wrong answer but I still need to review the material. Just like "all the crap I learned in highschool" (to quote Paul Simon) most of what's covered in the exam is NOT what I use in my job each day.

I may be back after AI but that's 2 hours tonight so I may be ready for bed by then!

Evening all!!!

LK, sorry about the hamster :( I remember when my last one died. I never got another because I couldn't deal with it every 2-4 years or so.

LTM, that shouldn't have made me laugh about the fish but it did.

Title change??? Sounds good to me :)

I'm being a big chicken tonight. I haven't had the heart to tell them yet about the hamster. The cage is downstairs, and we are usually upstairs, so it could be a few days before they notice anything.

Gail....are you talking the Series 7 and 63? Those two were part of my "job requirements past" and surely were no fun!:( Good thing we have these riddles to keep our minds sharp in preparation for this kind of testing!!!!

By the way: LET'S GO CLAY!!!! 2 hours of American Idol in just 25 mintues!!! I can't wait!!

Regarding the changing of the title of our gathering place....the one about the inmates running the asylum kinda hit home for me!!!!:D

I'll try to check in through the excitment! Have fun everyone!

Elaine! Glad you enjoyed the "fish" story.....the FUNNIER part is that when my nephew went back to the pet shop with my brother-in-law he somehow convinced them to replace the dead fish!!!!! I think they probably jsut wanted him out of the store!!!!!:D

LK - I was just going to ask about how the mini "k"'s took the news...probably not a bad plan to give yourself a break tonight if you can manage to do that...

Well the right time will come to tell them, I am sure!

LTM, that is unbelievable that they "took the fish back"! I am truly shocked! Maybe they were afraid that the fish might have been "sick" and didn't want many complaints.
