DH and I will be on the Fantasy soon and are wondering if anyone has gone to Rick's (the restaurant where they dive off the cliff) on your own in Jamaica? If so, how far from port is it? Safe? Thoughts on the matter...

Thanks!!

Very dangerous. Never do anything by yourself in Jamaica. Stick to excursions. Remain in groups. And take the "stay low profile" recommendation seriously.

Also, if you think you've experienced pushy vendors before (like in Nassau) ... You'll be shocked. Jamaica is much worst.

That's sad because Jamaica is beautiful.

We stayed at the Caves resort a few years, which is right across the bay from Rick's (we could actually hear the music from it in the evenings). I would not have left our resort on my own to go over there; even the staff there didn't recommend leaving the resort on our own. They said that they would get us a cab if we really wanted to and would arrange for us to come back but the sense they gave me was that they didn't really think it was a good idea. And it's a long way away from Falmouth.

We stayed at Couples Negril and they had a booze cruise that took resort guests to Ricks. Stayed at Rick's and jumped off the cliffs and then headed back on the boat. They told us at check in, DO NOT go off property. I would not go anywhere without resort staff taking you.

Thank you all for the information! Decision made...a DCL excursion!
