Okay, I'm not quite sure where to put this but I am considering buying the ride along Richard Petty experience for my DH to do while we are on our December vacation at WDW. Has anyone here ever done this? I have read there are no reservations required for the ride along experience. How did that work? Did you enjoy your experience and would you recommend it to others? I just want to make sure I have all the information before I book this thing since it's expensive enough as it is. I don't want to feel like I wasted my time and $.

Thanks in advance!
Carla :thumbsup2

We purchase21d a ride along for my FIL this past Father's Day and it is was awesome! He rode at Lowe's Motor in Charlotte, NC but I called Richard Petty Driving to get all the details because he had cancer and the 2 hour trip down there was going to be quite a trip in and of itself.

The rep told us that they can accommodate 45-60 riders per hour. He said they never turned people away unless the weather was against them. So I would not worry about the reservations thing. We were honestly there for maybe an hour from beginning to end...it was super quick.

Everyone there was wonderful to us. We were not allowed on the track and my FIL was very weak but the guys working the crew for his car helped him over and lifted him up and in without missing a beat. He said it was the best gift he had even been give and talked about it until the day he died.

We spent about $50-60 that day to get the DVD of his ride and a commemorative photo plague. But it was well worth every penny. So I suggest you go for it...he will not be disappointed!

Wow that is just amazing that you did that for your FIL. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so glad to hear it was so great! You have totally convinced me to treat my DH for sure :thumbsup2 What a wonderful memory for you and your family that you have for doing this for your FIL. Gives me goose bumps.

I'm also glad to hear about the reservations thing so if it is raining on the day I plan it then we can go back later in the week. That's fantastic. And a load off.

Thanks again for sharing! I think I'll be purchasing the experience for my DH this weekend. :thumbsup2

DW has done it twice, not the ride along, but the full course. I gave her the 4lap race 1 year and this past June she did another like 17 laps at speeds around 130 or so. I did the ride along and it was a blast! You can easily just walk up and do it.

Have fun!

Awesome. Your DW is one lucky woman!! So so far two good reviews. Glad to hear again that it's easy just to walk up and take your turn.

Thanks!! And thanks for the review! :thumbsup2
