Hi everyone!

I had hoped to do sign ups this weekend, however had too many things going on. Good things, though.

I found out last MOnday afternoon that I am now OFFICIALLY hired as the new science instructor for our alternative high school that works with long term suspended and expelled students in grades 5-12. So as a "new-to-the-district" teacher I started "induction" meetings last week as well. Talk about a hectic week. I had to rearrange doctor appointments, etc.

So, signups will be this TUESSDAY, August 8, in the evening. I will post them about 8 p.m. CST. Hopefully that will be a good time for everyone.

Advance organizers:

I plan to have several ribbon groups by color--you sign up for the base color of ribbon. There will be fiber groups--you chose color and some preset. Also eyelets and brads.

I will open up groups as needed so everyone can participate!

I may limit initial sign up spots to one each in ribbon, fiber, etc to give everyone a chance and then open up more groups later.

Also, I need some more cards! Does anyone else? So will also post a sign up for a card swap. Make 6, get 6. Categories will be general holiday, Christmas specific, Valentines, Thank you, New Year's.

Sorry for the delay, but want to give everyone a heads up for sign up date.

Also, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and JoAnns all have coupons this week. So, that should help!

Need to get busy on school stuff, more induction tomorrow! :sunny:

Congrats on the new job! That's great! :cool1:

Thanks for the info on the swap- I'll be watching for the sign-ups! :)

Wow! Super exciting about the job. What type of science will you teach? I used to teach Chem. I'm going to be subbing one a week this year. Enough of that off topic stuff, I'm really excited about this swap! Can't wait for tomorrow! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the job! Especially if it is one you wanted!!
I'll be keeping my eyes out for the sign up. I've got some great fiber I'd like to share.
Okay, newbie showing here, what is a preset?
Oh, and I'd love to do some cards. Please let us know when sign ups are for that.

Super!! Glad sign-ups are Tuesday night....I'll be home, then!! I love your catagories, too! Thanks! :cool1:

Congratulations on your new job, too!!

Congrats on the job... I'm on the look out for MickeyTeacher in case she can't get in.. I'd love to join..but it's back to school time here and too much on my plate... but I'll be anxious to see how it goes...and if you need an angel mark me down..

Wow, your school is starting you back early, or maybe that's just my Massachusetts perspective. I'm still miffed that I have to start back the week before Labor day. I teach special education so I have some understanding of what you're heading for. Don't you get tired of people telling you, "you must have so much patience!"?

I'd love to join in on a card swap. I always need more cards and I have some wonderful papers that I'd love to share with others.

Congrats on the New Job! :thumbsup2

Now I just have to remember to check Tuesday night and sign up. The card swap sound fun!

I'll be on the lookout for signups! And maybe a trip to one of those stores is in order for Tuesday morning :rolleyes1 . What a bad influence this board is on me!!!

Also - would there be any interest in wedding cards for the card swap? I have a bunch of stamps that I bought when I made my own wedding invitations and I'd love to use them again.

Congrats on the job, ksjayhawks!! That's awesome! I hope you love it!!

I don't know if I'll be able to do this one or not--back to school is keeping me slammed, too. We started back last week, and the kids start Wednesday.

Have a great week everyone! :cool1:

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone!

Yes, it is the job I wanted. I worked in this building last year as a long term sub in a program for kids in residential treatment. I was second teacher in a room when they made the one shelter coed (whoever came up with that bright idea???--talk about hormone city!) Then for 3 months I had a classroom of 7-10th grade boys--most I had was 11 and I did get a para to help me. This year I will be working in another program at the same building--only for suspended/expelled kids. I will be in charge of all science! Mostly life, earth, physical and biology maybe some chemistry and astronomy. The district just added on another year starting with this years 9th graders--that will affect me more in 2 years. Won't be much lecturing, more individual and small group work, interactive computer dissections, simple labs, projects as kids will be coming in at all times and leaving at different times as well. I believe we have 9 kids to start. Last year they had 40 at one time with 3 teachers, so will see what happens this year.

Don't you get tired of people telling you, "you must have so much patience!"? Patchchild--I sure do! Though, I don't mind being called a "saint" every now and then! :thumbsup2

AlexWyattMommy--what I meant by preset is that I will list colors for the fibers like blue, green, pastel, etc and you can sign up for one of those.

New England Eyore--we can add wedding cards as well. I could use a few of those also. DH has several coworkers getting married next year. Then in January, maybe we could do a card swap for birthdays, mother and father's days, easter, graduations, etc.

Got to go--we have a "dress up" (as we were told in so many words) breakfast with community leaders tomorrow morning at 7:15, so I have to leave by 6:45 to get there by 7:05 or so, otherwise have to park way out.

See everyone on the boards on Tuesday night!
