it wasnt that hard at all

i got a hat online

i bought strands of rhinestones

& i stitched them on

it was time consuming but very worth it

the rhinestones i got are from Hanconk Fabrics & they werent cheap about
.40 an inch...but i want this trip for DD to be the MOST memorable ever!!

Wow! Genius! I love it. I thought you must have glued them on. Stitching the strands on will make it hold up much better. Your dd is very lucky to have a patient mom like you!

That's awesome-- she is going to get asked all over WDW where she got those magnificent ears!

Those are awesome: I think I like them better than the originals! They had a headband with mouse ears in the party store and I almost bought it but couldn't think how to improve on them: now I know! Great job!

Just repeating what everyone else is saying ... those look GREAT! Wouldn't glue work?!?!:confused3 I cannot sew to save my life but I am really good with glue.:rotfl2:

Looks beautiful, but how heavy/hot is it?

So you sewed the strands on and not the individual rhinestones? Awesome job!!!

for those of you who asked

my first idea was to glue rhinestones one (like the baggies from craft stores) but then i was in Hancock Fabrics & found them in strands

i stitched them on cause glue would have been messy i dont think it would have held them on very well...so i stitched every few rhinestones.

its not SO heavy its uncomfortable, but i think i need to add a tie string cause its weighty enough to fall if she looks down.

we are going to wdw in dec so im not very worried about the heat

if any of you want me to I can post the strands that were unused & the underside of my stitches

i honestly think that glueing would have taken longer

im glad you love them!!!!

Oh yes, more pictures please! You should post these over on the Kids boutique clothes thread!

The hat came out great! I remember seeing that pricey one and thinking the same thing-I can make that for a whole lot less! You did a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing your crafting tips, I would have tried to glue each stone, but your method sounds much easier.

What a great job, they're beautiful. You could definitely sell them. I just love the "bling" :flower1:

You should really think of selling them! I'm sure you'd find a lot of customers here on the Dis! They are really amazing!

i would sell them but they arent cheap....this averaged about $150 !!

the rhinestones i got were clearanced out & i had a hard time finding them...plus it took me over 2 weeks to complete just one(i work full time with a DD that i help with her homework)

im glad you all love it...so if you see my DD at the parks....give her a big ole high five!!!!

ok...i put this on the boutique thread, but i will put it here too

heres the underside showing my stitches & the strands
