Rhianna....

Being hit by a man and being into S&M have not a single thing to do with each other.

Abuse is just that abuse and having been someone who was beat by a man out of the clear blue one time and believe me it was the last time he saw me, I dare you to tell me that it has anything to do with a sexual fetish.

S&M has everything to do with trust and fetish. It doesn't always have to be about pain and very little to do with violence.

If you don't like the song. Change the station.

(getting off my soap box)

Rhianna is just disgusting to me.
I remember her S&M routine, on prime time television no less, at the music awards a couple years ago.
Anything she does to continue her 15 minutes of fame could not surprise me.
:sad2:

And to think that young girls follow her and listen to that crap.

I guess it just seem that given what happened to her, she shouldn't/wouldn't sing a song that glamourizes it. I guess I just don't understand the thought process that drove her to record that song.

S&M/BDSM has NOTHING to do with domestic violence. A BDSM situation is between two consenting adults. Getting beat in the face by your irate boyfriend is a completely different thing - Rhianna obviously did not consent to him smacking her around.

Perhaps if you knew more about the subject matter you would understand the thought process?

I'm really not a huge fan of Rihanna's music, mostly because it just feels too processed, but keep in mind that she didn't even write the song.
The song's writers are Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen, Sandy Wilhelm and Ester Dean.
Sex sells. This song is nothing more than truly a way to sell more records and make more money.

And "S&M" is not relatable to being abused, in any way. S&M is a kink, a fetish. Abuse is power and dominance, but I think all the PP covered that fairly well already.

I'd say control, not dominance. A person can be dominate and not be abusive. If someone is a controlling person, its almost always a negative thing.

Apparently GMA sent Chris Brown the questions that they would be asking him and he approved of them, if he already knew, then why was he so mad during the taping?

Maybe for attention?

I know this has nothing to do with Rhianna's song haha, just thought i'd share this.

It's completely hypocritical and the reason I don't believe her. She likes being hit which is why she is attracted to men with known violent streaks. No one wants to say it though in fear of "blaming the victim" You can't claim innocence when "chains and whips excite you" Most people who are into S&M and are the dominant one are very bruised after the fact. I knew a girl who was a Dominatrix and the stories she would tell me ...INSANE. Most of those people though would be completely shamed if it were ever reveled. I think that is part of the the case with Riri and that CB went a little to far.

Ok, here's one for discussion. What about the song she sings with Eminem, where she says "Just gonna stand here and watch me cry, but it's alright because I like the way you lie. Just gonna stand here and watch me burn, but it's alright because I like the way it hurts, I love the way it hurts". And it's a song about a violent boyfriend. Hmmm...

I think she's not meaning she really likes it, but that she's just being a sarcastic smartbutt to the violent guy. But either way, not good.

And wasn't her very first hit song about taking out a gun and killing someone?

Ok, she has violence issues. What a shame because I love her voice.

The Eminem song, although about a violent and turbulent relationship is *not* about enjoying that violence. I know this sounds odd, but it's a very deep song with a lot of meaning. Yes, I know, it's an Eminem song.

Many people find themselves "in love" with someone who has those violent tendancies. I'm sure we've all known people who love each other but don't like each other very much. Or couples that just don't mesh well together.

It talks about when it's going good, it's great, but when it's bad he feels so ashamed. Promises of never laying hands on her again. But falling back into the same pattern, the same routine. Somehow it went from being so in love that you lose your breath when you're with them to beating each other, wanting to change, starting a new day, which just turns into yesterday.

She has her own version of that song as well. The first couple of lines are, "On the first page of our story, the future seemed so bright. Then this thing turned out so evil. I don't know why I'm still surprised."

As far as S&M, that's about sex. Purely about sex. Not at all about domestic violence. Two totally seperate issues, IMO.

Well of course Rhianna isn't appropriate for a 7 year old and a 2 year old.

I don't think it's appropriate for any age. Not just my children. Not the kind of values/morals for me. Different strokes for different folks though. To each his/her own. When Rihanna comes on the radio it is quickly changed.

I think this post falls under the category of ignorance. :thumbsup2

I see it as entertainment, not something to teach values or morals to anyone. To each her own though.
