I believe it is a special FastPass.

My kids found one, actually more than one but I made them put the others back.;) They received a FP good for any attaction for all four of us to ride.

they are actual paintbrushes???

My DD wants to go on this as I told her last yr its a hidden play area... she's excited to explore. been ions since I've been on it.

you need to be on the first raft over to get one - they are not hidden very hard - we got fast pass for our entire family for either splash or big thunder only

I remember a few, few, few years back when I was over on TSI I saw one in the afternoon and I was wondering how did the castmember forget that when he was done working the night before. How stupid I thought I was when I found out that they gave away prizes for finding them after my trip.

Also, on a prior school trip to disney one of my "crew" found Mickey's gold. That was pretty cool too. My friend tried to turn it into a cast member thinking someone may have lost it and he said to keep it as that Mickey has plenty more gold to go around since he seems to lose it quite often.

Here's a pic of the paintbrush we found in 2007. It was just sitting on the ledge there in that old mill. They were all easy to find. The prize wasn't an actual fastpass, but a certificate good for front-of-the-line access to either SM or BTMRR. Since DS doesn't like either of those rides, we gave it away!

I've read on the DIS for years now that this is hit or miss. Some mornings they hide them, some they don't. You'd have to be on the 1st raft over to TSI as there weren't many hidden.

kiss that for us goodby.. unless I do it myself one day

:thumbsup2 Same here. Usually first thing in the morning we are racing to Space Mountain or BTMRR or even catching some zzzzzzz's. :cloud9:

:confused3 What is Mickey's Gold? I've never heard of that. What did it look like and where did they find it?

I made the "mistake" of telling DD7 about the hidden paintbrushes on TSI. We never found any. Then again, it was late morning. Maybe, they had been found already. She was a little bummed. I told her maybe next time ... :wizard:

You don't have to be on the first raft of the day but you stand a better chance of finding one if you are. In September 2007, we went over on one of the last rafts of the day and I found one! I had heard about them and decided to just randomly look a few places, not expecting to actually find one, and I found one!

 Has anyone found one recently like in the year 2009? Just curious if they are still doing this or was I on a wild goose chase for nothing? :confused3

Sounds like something fun to do if you are planning on going to TSI anyway, but I don't think I would alter my plans to look for them. Doesn't make much sense to spend 30-45 minutes to do this to save the same amount of time standing in line for Splash or BTMRR.

My DS11 found one during our trip in late August. We happened to be walking by the dock right before it opened, and got on the first raft. We were among the first off, he ran out and found one. They were all found within the first 1/2 hour of opening.

We were offered a FP to SM or BTMRR, no others. We even asked since we had been riding both of those the hour before we went to the island.

We had something similar back in (think) 2006. One of my nephews found some mickey gold. Was pretty neat and we got a few neat picks with him and some cm's.

Mickey's Gold was a small bag that looked like a change purse or wallet out of the middle ages. It had candy in it that looked like gold pieces. It has been a few years since I was in school so I don't know that they are still doing it or not.

editted to add- It was found in the caves.

I found one last month, I was on the 1st raft over and it was just sitting on top of a ledge by the caves.... i was really proud of myself though! hehehe! it seems like all the brushes were found by our 1st raft bc I saw about 3 other people holding them. I was given a fastpass for BTMR only and it was good all day any time.

I have found a Paintbrush on 2 different trips.Once I received the pass for Splash Mountain or BTMRR and the other time I received one of the "No Strings Attached" certificates that was good for ANY Magic Kingdom attraction.I have even heard of the "No Strings Attached" certificate being honored at Pixie Hollow!:)

Also,if you find a Paintbrush,be sure to go to the "Picket Fence" between Harper's Mill and Aunt Polly's Dockside Vending Machines;):) and take a picture "painting" the fence with your Paintbrush.:)
