Reward discrepancy

Does anybody know why site A and site b have such a large discrepancy in rewards sometimes?
In particular, I'm looking at the Entertainment Book-it's only $2 on SR, but 150 feathers (around $10) on CD, $10 on Inbox Dollars, and more on mypoints. I'm thinking that SR must use a different advertiser than the other sites, but does anybody else have any ideas?

I'll be honest about this one. It's one that I really have struggled with.

With incentive sites, we have two ways of getting shopping offers. One is to work directly with a merchant. Another is to work through a third party. There are pros and cons of both. If I work directly through Entertainment Books, I get about $4 for each sale, no matter how many books a person buys. If I work through the 3rd party, I can probably get about $15 a book.

The reason that the 3rd party pays out so much more is that they get really good bulk rates. Mypoints would also get those bulk rates. We only sell about 5 entertainment books a month. You have to sell around 750 a month to get the bulk rates.

The reason I chose to work directly with the merchant is that I trust them more than the third parties. The third parties have more "tracking issues" and you can't dispute not getting credits.

It's the same thing with that Shoebuy offer that is floating around on other sites. You get a flat fee no matter what you buy. But it's through that third party company. I'd rather work directly with Shoebuy and establish a relationship with them.

It's kind of a crapshoot. All of the rewards sites have to make decisions on shopping offers like this. I tend to err on the side of caution because I would rather have the chance to dispute non-credits than just take what I can get but with bigger payouts. I've been burned too many times on non-credits that I couldn't dispute. But it may work out for the other sites.

Thank you for the thorough explanation Tricia!

Carla

Seriously. What other site owner would write an epistle on reward amounts?
Thank you for your explaination.

Thanks Tricia! I have always sort of wondered but not really cared why this may be. I always figured you were honest and so there was a reason. :) BUT it is reassuring to hear the reasons. Thanks for a very thorough answer

Thanks for a great response. I really like knowing I definitely will get credit for my purchases.

One more reason to love the Sunshine!!

That makes sense. You may get more pay out from other gpt's but on the other hand, you may get Zilch and have no recourse. Less pay out is less pay out, but more of a "sure thing". Kind of have to decide which you want, "a bird in the hand or two in the bush".
Thanks for the explanation!

So, FWIW, I wound up ordering the book through SR (I remembered last year Inbox Dollars didn't credit me). Plus, Tricia is just awesome.

I totally agree!! BTW, I got my entertainment book through SR also -- towards the end of the year when I could get an additional 2007 book for $5 and preordered the 2008 book. It credited very quickly and I was happy with the service.

I learned my lesson and won't be going through any other reward sites unless it's something I absolutely can't get on SR and know Tricia isn't able to get it. Good choice, Hedy!
