Revival of the angry thread!

OBAMA, he's enough to make me angry.
And did'ja hear,,Gramdma is move'n into the White House too , so SHE can raise the kids!
And since the economy is in such deep doo-doo with all the jobless'ness and ramped federal spending,(our tax dollars) let us not ask that "he who walks on water" take a high road and just do a simple Oval Office swearing-in,,,what the hell,,lets just go ahead and spend ALL THOSE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS on the public inaugural swearing-in, all the inaugural balls and parties that follow so ALL our elected officials can enjoy themselves! IT'S ONLY MONEY, RIGHT!?! (our money)
Yeah, yeah, I know,,"It's history making". Look, the only thing history making about it is that the man is black,,,and for half MY life people have been tell'n me we aren't spose to see color????
Oh, and there is the HISTORICAL FACT that our new Pres. has less spent less time in the political arena than any Pres. we've ever had.
The history making I see is HISTORICAL SPENDING,,and folk this is just the beginning. And the only "CHANGE" that I see coming is that Obama has hired the ENTIRE Clinton admin. as well as THE CLINTONS ALSO !!!

We did actually have a president once that cared enough about America and the people that he did for go ALL the big swearing-im and parties,,FOR THE PEOPLE !!!

Nuff said.

for today.

Yeah, yeah, I know,,"It's history making". Look, the only thing history making about it is that the man is black. He's not even truly that!!

Give me a history lesson Frank. Which president did not have any gala events? I don't think there were any in my life time. Eisenhower was in office the year I was born (1954) & was re-inaugurated in 1958(?) when I was 3.

If I were elected president would they make a big deal out of the fact that I can claim I'm a Native American? I have about 1/4 indian blood in me. (Forget about the female factor.)

Thank you Dis-Board Professor!!

I don't remember history before my time well, (find it hard to remeber yesterday) but I believe they taught us it was Franklin Roosevelt. I am not sure if he did this in his first term or his second term.

Or maybe his third term - the only president to be elected for 3 terms.

Oh my, I'm sorry Frank had to see that clip on TV of the inauguration rehearsal.

Yes, every President had their fancy party, but they were not screaming CHANGE all over the place.

Believe me, I want to see a huge CHANGE.

I think the media gives Obama a pass on this. Being that it's "history in the making". If a Republican had won..you could bet they'd be all over the expense of the inauguration. Sounds like "same old..same old" to me.:sad2:

If I hear one more thing about Michelle Obama's choice of dress...WHO FREAKIN' CARES! :confused3
There are people in this country losing their jobs and losing their homes..really hurting....I don't give two cents what she wears or how many parties they go to. Can we take some of that money and help THE PEOPLE!

Repubs or Dems, it's both the same, heck, last I checked, McCain even decided to start screaming "CHANGE" halfway through his campaign.

The media is critical on everyone, that is their job. The Repubs just didn't like it when they were getting blasted for 8 years, but they tend to forget the Clinton was blasted as well, as was Reagan, Carter, you name it. That's the job of the media, they find the stories, we choose to read them. Honestly, the year long coverage up to the election was insane, I was so sick of it, but not nearly as much as I was sick of hearing about Monica Lewinski during the last year or so of Clintons term.

There are differences between the two, but in the end they're both out for themselves. I don't for one second think Obama is the Messiah, and there wasn't one second I was going to vote for any ticket with Palin on it. In the end, someone always gets screwed. You know, kind of like when Disney "changes" something...lol ;)

Sorry, but I think the media is basking in the Obama inauguration. I don't know of ANYONE who cares what Michelle Obama wears..yet I haven't watched one program that doesn't have something featured about it. I don't think the national media has a CLUE as to how real people in this country are suffering. No one who has lost their job, or is in the process of losing their home, or is about to loose a small business gives a rats behind about any of these festivities. Many of these people have elected Obama into office. They are anxiously awaiting whatever changes he can implement to help them. Yet...the media has felt the need to bombard the airwaves with parties, and debate whether Michelle will bring "style"back into the White House. These reporters and program executives are so far removed from the real life experiences of their viewers. If one questions them..surely they must be....REPUBLICAN's..:scared1:

Obama is in...and even those of us who didn't vote for the guy are accepting of that, and Lord knows we're hoping that he is able to bring about the changes that will put us on the right path again. I would have greater respect for the President Elect if he were to say..'you know..while I understand this is a historic time in our nations history, we need to focus on the country's serious economic problems." Really being that element of change that he professes to be.

People think the War was expensive? We ain't seen nothin' yet! $1,000,000,000,000 (I think that's a Trillion) is just the down payment. Sew your pockets and your wallets shut cause they iz a cummini' for yourz a munnin'. You getsa what you votesa for and the "one" is it....for a very, very long and expensive 4 years.:scared1:

I talked to her earlier today - I guess that's twice as bad as single pnemonia - the otters will hold a minute of silence at 6PM, River Country time. By the time they all get quieted down, the minute will be up. There will be several toasts to her good health, until all the otters are passed out.

OMG! I can't believe it. Poor Debbie. That's awful! Maybe her Dr. should have seen her when she called last week, instead of telling her not to come in because she had the flu. :sad2:

Come to think of it...I say we all go kick his ***! Get the Otters...load up the truck..we're teachin' this guy a lesson! :cool2:

Hope you get to feeling better real soon Deb!:flower3:

Except that the majority of that trillion came under a Republican President. Are people already blaming Obama for what Bush/Paulson did? Not that I think Obama would/is going to do any different, but I sure as heck am not sitting here with an almost trillion dollar price tag already and blaming someone who isn't even President yet :P

You're right, we don't care about what she wears. The problem is, obviously a large segment of America does, and sadly that's what the news focuses on. With all news now becoming basically tabloid journalism (thanks Fox and MSNBC), we can look forward to more and more of this.

But Auntie, this is NOTHING new. This what the journalist do, it covers the news (however it's defined at the time). And in this day of instant 24/7 news, the stupid stuff becomes more mainstream unfortunately. However, I was reading some news articles from the 1950's the other day (don't ask why...lol), and it was amazing how much the whole "commie scare" talk back then reminded me exactly of how people were using the whole "socialism scare" with Obama.

Things really never change, we just forget about them.

P.S. That being said, I'm kind of glad the inauguration is getting so much coverage (warranted or not). It's a great, pomp and circumstance filled occasion that has only been around a couple hundred years. Too many people don't take interest in this kind of stuff, if anything this last political season has gotten people out to vote again, and that's always a good thing (whether you agree with them or not).

You see though..I don't feel there is a large population that cares about this stuff. I think just the MEDIA cares about it. It's a huge pat yourself on the back club. Who are these people who care about this?. Not the people who are losing their homes, their jobs and their businesses? These are some of the people who elected him, because we wanted change? The guy loosing his job, and the family being forclosed on...the media seems to have stopped reporting on them now that Obama is elected. Now the media is basking in the swearing in..and fogetting the issues that got the man elected in the first place.

How refreshing would it be to have the President Elect say.."No...we need to focus on the crisis our country facing..not the parties". Maybe the media might even take notice and report on it. :sad2: Or not.

Well, the media cares about the advertisers. The adverisers care about ratings. And this new era of tabloid journalism equals ratings. We might not know anyone that cares, but people are not flipping the channel, otherwise you would see them change.

Fox News proved tabloid journalism would work, MSNBC solidified it, and now CNN is jumping on board (I'm assuming we're talking TV news here).

On that note, with all the negativity normally in the news, sometimes it's kind of nice not to hear about something else bad, or someone else doing something wrong, or another house foreclosing. I watch quite a bit of TV news (to balance the print and online news), and I have to say, while I have seen stuff about the inauguration and her dress, it really hasn't been all that much.

Remember when they spent 3 days talking about how Laura Bush and four other ladies all wore the same red dress during last years (or maybe the year before) Kennedy Center Honors? That was on the news non-stop as well. This has nothing to do with Obama, just like most TV news doesn't. This has to do with money and ratings. That's why Fox bashes MSNBC so hard (although half of Fox News crew are ex-MSNBC and NBC people, kind of tells ya something there doesn't it ;) ), and why MSNBC bashes Fox, and why CNN tells nothing but Anderson Cooper Katrina stories and Nancy Grace Cayle Anthonee cases. You might not think people are watching, but they are, and unfortunately, in more and more droves.

I've about given up on TV news to be honest, left or right, they're all huge agenda pushers, way more so than print or online.

If the Obama's want to impress me she will wear a dress from Wal-Mart off the clearance rack that she paid $9.99 for.

Actually, they did a story on her, and I think you might be surprised how frugal she is. Now, they do have money, so of course they are going to spend money, that's how it works.

But she wasn't anywhere near the McCain/Palin wardrobe, her clothes were from actual mainstream stores, where as theirs were from designers. Not to say Michelle Obama isn't probably upping her wardrobe now, but one of the main differences between Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain to me was that McCain was the one walking around in the rich designer dresses, not Obama.

Then again, here I am talking about a freaking dress. Bah, I'm going home, this is definitely not a topic I have any interest in hearing any more about...lol

Tomorrow we will be talking hair, come back then.

If I remember you correctly you're an expert on the subject. :lmao:

I actually like the way she dresses:thumbsup2 ...and I've seen her on Leno in her J. Crew skirt and sweater. I know she shops in H &M, and the dress she wore on the View was $135.00. Great...now can the media STOP telling us about it?.:headache:

If she'd like to buy me some clothes....they can report on that!
I could do with a new spring wardrobe..and I'm not particular. Given that I usually shop in Kohls or Dress Barn!.

Get better Deb! Here's a "feel good" for you!

I was going to grouse about my rotten, no-good day, but I think I'll keep my mouth shut. Maybe I've got it better than I thought.
