Dang, Jim!!! 250 people??? Either that's a HUGE hospital or, they will start handing out "Do-it-yourself" manuals on how to treat yourself. Gives a whole new meaning to the "Decision Tree".

It's a decent size hospital. I'm pretty sure this was about 30% of their work force.

Is this a private hospital or a county hospital??

Okay....the real killer of the hospital will be when their ratings drop due to understaffing. PPO's & HMO's will drop them like a hot potato!

Or....they were grossly over-staffed to begin with.

When the medical providers start cutting back...we are in BIG trouble.

I think Insurance companies have to answer to someone...Seriously....whether it's health insurance and managed care...or car insurance, with ins. companies stealing every last morsel there is to made on an auto repair.(and only paying for used after market parts:rolleyes1) It's out of control. You file a claim for your weather related damage to your homeowners ins. and they are closing up shop in your area. Seems they didn't mind taking your payments..but don't want to pay the claims. We've never even had a claim, and our rates have gone up tremendously..WHY...because our area is "due" for a hurricane. You know..the one that hasn't happened..but might. Give me a break. You can't have a test your doctor thinks you need, unless your insurance company is on board. Then you have to fight to get it. Life sure has changed in the last twenty years...
Am I crazy..or is there a pattern here?...(never mind...it's meant to be a rhetorical question....so try to resist the smart *** answer:laughing:)

No, I don't think you're crazy, but then again, that's what the voices told me to say..... :lmao:

State Farm Homeowners Insurance is - or already may have - pulled out of Florida - with our Governor's blessings. They claimed the damages from 2004 hurricanes tremendously hurt them & wanted approval for an exobitant increase in premiums. The state said no, State Farm said "Bye-Bye", the Governor basically told them not to let the door hit them in the rear as they were leaving.

Between 1973 - when I moved to Florida, and 1992 - when Andrew hit S.E. Florida - there were no major hurricanes. They had 20 years of peace & quiet. Then, between 1992 & 2004, again, no major storms in Florida - another 12 years. So....32 years of quiet and plenty of time to bank & invest those profits. Did they? Apparently not. State Farm (and Allstate) have been the biggest cry-babies in regards to the mega-money they had to pay out in claims. Those idiots also had the largest saturation rate of any major insurer. Did they think the storms would "jump over" homes insured by them??? It's a typical case of one hand extended to receive $$$, and the other hand stuck deep in their pockets. We dumped Allstate after Andrew in 1992 when they suddenly decided to double our rates after 20 years because we had never filed any claims, and the odds said we were over-due to file a claim! WTH????:confused3

If you're going to rag on insurance companies, don't forget AIG - their low, low pricing on CDS is the major reason we're all in the economic mess we're in - plus they will end up costing us all hundreds of billions.

it won't cost me much. I just bought the latest and greatest HP printer. I'm going to start printing money like the government is doing. I call it bailouts for fatsos by fatsos. RIP Mr. Friedman.

Can anyone tell me what the trickle-down results would have been if the Gov't didn't bail out AIG?? This is a serious question because I've heard it stated that because of all that AIG insures, the country would had really spiraled economically if AIG had failed. Some things are just too big for me to wrap my mind around. Actually - a lot of things are too big for me to wrap my pea-brain around.

Goold old Uncle Milty........

This "Uncle Milty"???

Oh...we won't be "over-stressed". Closing at 10pm just means that the local drunks and druggies will have a place to hang out a little longer. That, and the idiots who for some reason, need to buy air conditioning filters at 9:59pm. Then, there are always those that decide late at nite to come in and pick out paint or new flooring - and take an hour or so to decide what they want. It's always the same type of customer that shops late....A/C filters, paint, flooring. Always!

That's so funny. When we were building our house we tried to use AMEX to pay all the bills so that we could get rewards points. We'd use the construction loan to pay AMEX when the bill came. Anyhoo, to get on topic, AMEX called to let us know that they had been "burned" by too many projects like this and would not let us use the card for home construction unless we gave them access to the construction loan. Sure, right away, NOT!

We discovered that we could go into Home Depot near closing and purchase thousands of dollars of items at one shot and the charges would get authorized without AMEX being notified. The guys working the late night shift at HD would smile as they saw me coming with loads of things like interior doors or fixtures with my brother and father tagging along. They'd laugh and tell me to fill up the gas tank on the way home, 'cause AMEX would shut the card off by morning! It all worked out, and we used the rewards points for a well deserved weekend trip to WDW, just Nancy and I.

Why can't teenagers find something else to do at night other than to take things out of trucks?

Lost: 1 sirius radio, 1 laptop, 1 shoe, and 1 ipod holder to convert ipod to a radio station...

What is with the shoe I ask?

The only solace is that the laptop was running linyx so I doubt any fool that took it knew what the hell the laptop was doing when they turned it on. It is in a dumpster somewhere...sometimes being married to a tech geek has "some" advantages...

Sigh...

Oh Jen, I'm so sorry to hear this. That's just awful!

Jen, that really sux! I hope they catch em and string em up....

Jen I am so sorry.

Recently we had our GPS, Satellite radio, daughters camera and assorted Cd's and such was stolen from our car. We were valet parked at the Tropicana in AC.

We assume an employee used our key to get in, as our window was not broken and the car was locked.

Whoever it was was stupid, riped the wires to the satellite so it is of no use to them. We canceled our membership just in case.

Of course the Tropicana said this never happens at there hotel and that they were not responsible because after all how do they know we were telling the truth.. CHECK YOUR SURVEILLANCE VIDEO ....YOU IDIOTS!!!!! You have a thief working for you. :furious:
