I was just telling my hubby our ADR's and he was not THRILLED at ALL that 3 of our meals are buffet. (boma, Liberty Tree & Tusker house) Can anyone give me a CURRENT update on those buffets. He is under the assumtion of buffets being boring and gross selections..
PLEASE help.. so I have time to change ADR's if I need to..

Thanks ALL!

LTT is not a buffet. Lunch is ordered off the menu, dinner is served family style.

Boma breakfast or dinner? I can't speak for breakfast, but their dinner is great! There are quite a few different soups and stews and these are each worth the price IMO. Seafood gumbo, chicken with coconut curry, carrot ginger to name just a few. All amazing! There are also quite a few very interesting salads. I highly recommend Boma buffet!

Liberty Tree is not a buffet. They serve a limited a la carte menu for lunch and a pre-plated all you can eat family style dinner that is basically a thanksgiving feast. We like it for lunch, no interest in dinner. Though I have to say, one of the dishes we ordered when we went for lunch was called Pilgrim's Feast and it had basically the stuff they serve for dinner and we liked it a lot. I guess your hubby might think it was boring...i did!

We did Tusker House for lunch last trip and it was OK. Food was similar to Boma but is much better at Boma. If you want the characters, these were fine. We found it a nice alternative to the other TS meals in AK, but wouldn't go out of our way. Lots of people rave about breakfast at Tusker, we we haven't tried it.

Not for the volume of food but for the selection. I haven't been to all but enjoy in order of preference:
1 Boma
2.Cape May
3. Tusker
4. Trails End - a delightful surprise including wonderful boat trip!

I am going end of February and have only booked these for my TS meals. The food choices are wonderful- something for every palate I have never had a bad meal (or even ordinary) at any of these. The service has always been great, but especially at Boma and Cape May. I have had dinner and breakfast at Boma, and will again in February. I should say I enjoy exotic food and seafood, but there are plenty of other great things to eat too.
I did eat at LTT for lunch and enjoyed it, though not as much as the others.:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the responses already.

We are looking a dinners. And Lunch at Tusker for the characters for my nephews.

So far you are helping ALOT !!!

Thank you
Thank you
THANK YOU!

Only keeping the Tusker house.. cause of the characters and it is similar to Boma..
We are on the dining plan.. so now to fill it up with other choices. Thinking of just doing BOG and another QS on our MK day and use that TS point to go to LeCelliar's with our Sunday point.. cause now they are 2 TS points..

The men and sister are not thrilled with buffets..

My DH is a buffet-snob -- hates them.

That being said, there are some big differences AND advantages to WDW buffets.

They really do a very good job of keeping food fresh, hot (or cold if need be) and varied. We've found them to be a cut above a buffet you might encounter anywhere else.

But the BIG advantages are the time you save and the flexibility you have. It is hard to overstate how exhausting WDW can be -- especially how tiring all the waiting can be. It is hugely beneficial to be able to just get seated and then get your food -- no wait! And the flexibility is terrific too -- as much as you care to eat of something you love, no need to take things you don't like, OK to try something then go back for something else (huge benefit with kids).

Although we would avoid a buffet like the plague anywhere else, we do end up with at least one on each of our trips for the reasons I mentioned.

(Also, for what it's worth -- I tell DS and DH that if they want to sit with me and plan and research they are welcomed to, but if they don't then they can simply LOVE the choices I've made for them :thumbsup2 )

My fave buffet in WDW is Cape May. The selections available are quite varied. The food is consistantly replenished and always fresh. If you can squeeze in another buffet ressie I highly reccommend it.

IMO Le Cellier is not really worth 2TS credits. :(

I agree, bleeps!! :thumbsup2

Don't give up Boma dinner! I just did it in January and it was awsome! And just to let you know I hate buffets! I have only done tuskar for breakfast so I am not sure on the lunch/dinner foods.

Just got back from a trip both breakfast and dinner at Boma and a breakfast at Tusker House...they are far from boring! Boma has some great African flavors(they've earned to use it as part of their name), and Tusker House is great with the character selection! There's definitely nothing gross about them. They're all very clean, and have some surprisingly freshly made food! There's something special when you know a buffet uses real eggs in their breakfast nowadays....instead of what seems to be the industry standard of powdered "eggs".

Boma may seem a bit "exotic" for some, but if you're open to try new things, you'll definitely surprise yourself with what you can find! Also...three of their desserts have liquor in them...incentive enough in that alone! ;)
