Ok I just got back from th eworld and here are my reviews of the restaurants we ate at.

The cast of characters include:

Grumpy Disney Dad - 35 yr old Pooh sized male
Mom - 50 something female that cant eat beef
DD8 - picky eater that thinks chicken comes only in nugget form

We were all on the Dining plan

Day 1

Beakfast: We grabbed a quick breakfast at an offsite hotel before checking into our hotel at WDW

Lunch: Cinderellas Castle Character Meal
Mom and I started with the adult appetizer plate, and DD8 had the childs appetizer plate. The adult appetizer was rather skimpy and other than 2 crab balls i reaaly couldnt indentify anything else on there. DD8's appetizer plate had cheese, grapes, celery, and carrots. It looked very yummy and she ate all of it. For the entree I chose Major Domo's Pie and it was very tasty and tender. Mom chose the pork loin on grits and is still raving about how great it was. She says it was the best pork she had ever tasted. DD8 picked the Pretzel Dog with sweet potato chips and garden salad. She thought the hot dog on pretzel roll and the salad were delicious but she said the chips were a little stale. For dessert Mom and I had the blueberry crisp with ice cream and it was heavenly. Warm Blueberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream...mmmmm. DD8 had the dark chocolate crown on top of vanilla ice cream. she said it was very rich but it dissappeared down her throat before i could take a picture of it. The princess interaction was great and for a few minutes we even had allof the princesses at our table at once. (hubba hubba Princess Auroa)
Price $74 including tip
we used 3 TS credits for this meal

Dinner: All Star Music Food Court
Typical food court fare here. Filling and good but nothing spectacular
I had Chicken Parm, A salad, Brownie, and bottled tea. The chicken was moist and the food was hot and fresh. Mom had the Chicken Quesadillas, fries, brownie, and coke to drink. She said the Quesadillas were good and very cheesy. DD8 had the mac and cheese kidsmeal and thought the mac and cheese was so so but she loved the breadstick and brownie. The only drawback i saw to eating here was the hordes of Brazilian teeanagers that would send 1 person to get in line then as that person got close to ordering, they would all flock in behind them.

Price $26 for the adults
$4.79 for DD8
We used 2 CS credits for the adults and paid out of pocket for the kids meal.

Day 2

Breakfast: Leftover brownies from food court dinner the night before :earboy2:

Lunch: MGM Backlot Express
I had the double cheeseburger with fries, a peach tart, and a coke. The burger was good for a fast food place, the fries were nice and hot, and the peach tart was wonderful. Mom had the Grilled veggie sandwich with cranberry slaw , a diet coke, and a choc marshmellow mousse. This sandwich is another meal she is stil raving about how good it was. DD8 had the chicken nuggets with fries, and applesauce. She pronounced them very good as she gobbled them down.

$4.79 for DD8

Dinner: Princess StoryBook Dinner in Norway
Mom and I both had the appetizer plate and the Lamb with thyme infused cabbage. I could have made a meal out of the apps alone It had 2 kinds of salmon (lox and gravlox), 2 kinds of mackerel (smoked and peppered) several types of cheeses including carmelized goats cheese, potato salad, chicken salad, shrimp salad , a mixed greens salad, and a basket of variety breads. Mom loved everything but the gravlox and the shrimp salad . That was fine by me because i could have devoured it all by myself . It was SOOOO delicious!! The lamb and cabbage was to die for also ( Mom claimed it was a bit on the salty side, but I thought it was fantastic. DD8 was served an app platter with cheese, veggies and fruit salad. She claimed that it was very cool and yummy. DD8 chose the cheese ravioli in pizza sauce sauce and devoured it. She even asked if i could get the recipe to make it at home. The princess were very attentive and joked and kidded with all the tables in our area (Jasmine, Ariel, Alice, Belle, and Cindy) Our server was fantastic and took time to explain to DD8 about customs in Norway and even asked if I was a Viking (must have been the long goatee and red hair) The dessert platter we were served was fantastic also . The rice cream was superb, as was the Ligonberry tarts. I didnt get a chance to try the choc mousse as DD8 claimed that as hers. This was probably my favorite meal of the entire trip. If you have adventurous tastes I highly recomend dining here.

Day 3

Breakfast: Granola bars brought from home

Lunch: Typhoon Tillies at Typhoon Lagoon
I had the Chicken Wrap, Cheetos, Brownie, and an Ice Tea. It was the perfect thing for a hot day at the water park and very tasty. Mom had the Ceaser Chicken Salad , brownie, and a bottled water and claimed it was ok but nothing outstanding, but she did say it was the perfect thing for a hot day. DD8 had the footlong hotdog, chips and a brownie. She loved the hotdog and was thrilled she could order off the big persons menu. We also purchased a refillable mug for the day and used that several times

Price: $37.65
We used 3 CS credits for this and paid $10 out of pocket for the mug

Dinner: Ohana's at the Polynesian
We all had the app platter with wontons, wings, green beans, salad , and stir fried rice. DD8 loved the rice. Mom loved the wontons, and i put a serious hurting on the chicken wings. The green beans were ok but a little under done even though i like mine with a snap. The skewers for the entree were excellent except for the pork ( it was a little dry). The turkey and the steak were the best out of the bunch and each of the dipping sauces went well with the skewers. For Dessert Mom and i had the pineapple and caramel while we ordered DD8 the "Beach Bomb" snocone that comes in a pail . Our cousin was very very polite in informing us that the snocone was not included with the dining plan, but i already knew that and it didnt matter. DD8 enjoyed the Hula Contest and was even even applauded for helping pick up the hoops afterwards. It was a cute contest but the music went on just a little too long.(i dont know what Cousin was singing about but it sounded like "The love song of a cat in a blender" :rotfl: We had great seats right by the windows overlooking the marina, and we waited less than 5 minutes for our table.
Price: $80

Lunch: Cosmic Rays
Mom and I both had the rib and chicken combo with fries, Carrots and coke. The ribs and chicken were both incredible, but man that was a ton of food. I had a carrot cake for dessert and mom had another brownie. DD8 had the Kids roasted chicken and didnt care for the chicken or the mashed potatoes but she did snitch some of moms ribs and loved them. The only drawback to eating at Rays was trying to find a seat. It was packed because it had just started raining

Overall I would say the dining plan is a fantastic money and time saver. It allowed us to eat as we wished and not have to keep track of what we were spending. Plus it was a ton a food. I am a big guy and love my food and i never walked away from ANY meal hungry I would recomend it highly to anyone considering it.

Over all we ate $552 worth of food and only paid for $264 For a savings of $288

i will be glad to answer any questions yall might have about any of the meals or snacks we ate

sounds great thank you for your post!! You are not too excited about Ohana I can tell...we have PS for there..can you tell me what you didn't like about it?? XCEPT for the dying cat song and green beans?? :rotfl2:

that sounded like a great time. oh i was lafin at the "1 would wait in line, then the rest would flockin." sorry to say BUT NOT in FRONT of ME , they would of been out of town..................haha.....no seriously...........i would either tell them "Move back" (of course they would PRETEND not to understand me) or i would of whined to someone.......hahaha........i believe they all know what they are doing, cause we see it after the shows get over (in summer) and the people that try to CUT the WHOLE line ,,,,until every one starts to yell....................to bad.they should not be allowed.

Actually Ohana's was ok if i hadnt eaten at the castles first i would have ranked it much higher but Nothing compares to the castles... Your family should have a blast there

Great reviews Grumpy Disney Dad!

What time was your ADR for 'Ohana's?

Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the great review, and all the details. I was particularly interested in your experience at Cosmic Ray's - after reading the menu I was thinking that the chicken-rib combo sounded great and lots of food, we're definitely planning to SHARE one or two of those between the 5 of us (the younger dd's don't eat too much). Your description of Norway sounds so good I wish I could add it to our list (too many places, not enough time!) Did you happen to ask what your CS or snack credit would get you at Main St. Bakery? (just curious, sounds like different cms allow different things)
Thanks again.

720 pm and we walked right in on time

Great review. Very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write out what you ate, the cost and the savings. It helps me make our dining plans!

I got quoted over $800 dollars more for the dining package than booking with an AP for Sept 29th-Oct 5th staying at the AKL. So, the dining plan was not going to be a good deal for us.

I can appreciate that it doesnt work for everyone, but it worked great for me

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Great reviews! Thanks for sharing. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Restaurant Akershus. :flower:

Oh my goodness!!!! I have a new word!!!!!!

Foodgasm!!!!

I love it!!!!!! Thanks! :):rotfl::rotfl2:

Thanks for the post

Brownies for breakfast.........Your my kind of people :teeth:

I love the info. We are booked for September. Could you please explain to me why you paid for the child's meals? Maybe it is just too early for me or I have not had enough coffee!

We paid out of pocket for the kids meal for 3 reasons

1 We werent sure if DD8 would eat so it was mentally easier to waste 3.99 than a CS credit that we could use later

2. Childs Dining Plans cost $10 a day and adults plan cost $30 a day but Disney doesnt differentiate between the two when you use them so if we payed for DD8 meals we could save the CS credits for an Adult to use for a higher priced Adult Meal

3 since the Dining Plan is based on Nights booked, we saved all of DD8s CS credits so we could use them on our Day of checkout since we didnt get credits for that day.(because we werent staying another full night)

By paying for the cheaper kids meals out of pocket we were able to bank those credits and eat "free" our last day in the parks

The lady at Main Street Bakery seemed a little lost about what was included as far as a snack credit went. It was early and i needed my tea so i didnt push the issue. We had already saved enough $$ with the Dining Plan so it wasnt a big deal to me to pay out of pocket
