Have you stayed here?? Did you like it good or bad, reviews PLease?? Did you stay in the Mini Suite??

I just stayed there Oct. 31-Nov. 3

We stayed in a normal room, so I can't say much about the suites.

Would I stay there again? perhaps, depending on the rate. The walls were thin, and in the mornings I could hear the families above and next to us getting ready to go. I was already awake, so I'm not sure if it would have woken me up. It did not wake up my fiance. (As an aside, a dad and his son were apparently into backyard wrestling and were throwing each other on and at the bed, very noisy, but not the hotel's fault)

The walk was nice in the morning. We did try the parking tram a few times. I'm not sure how much it cuts of the walk, but it halps some. It took us about 10-12 minutes to walk to the parks.

I was not impressed with the breakfast. We stuck to bagels we brought with us or running across the street to get doughnuts.

Parking was a bit of an issue due to some construction

If you are looking for somewhere to lay your head and that's it, it was comfy and clean. Beyond that, I'm pretty nutral, and it really depends on the rate(we paid ~55/night) on where we'd stay.

hope that helps

Since these replies are a couple years old - how about reviews from folks who have been to this one more recently.

If this is the resort on Katella and near Harbor Blvd., I think it's great value for the money. We stayed in May 2004 for 5 nights. I would do it again for the price.

First, let me say that this resort has been undergoing major renovations for over a year, now. It did get a bad wrap during that time mode because there was more noise, etc. while construction was going on.

We got a deal through Orbitz for $65/night and I think it was great value for the price paid. There was a sale going on and I think we paid 20% less than the normal price on Orbitz.

The rooms were large; you didn't feel cramp. There was a nice size refrigerator and a microwave. There's a grocery chain not too far away to stock up, too. The pool is on the small size for the resort size. There's a restaurant that was soon to be opened there and Quizmos was already in operation. The parking was a little tight at times, if you have a car.

Also, there's a free continental breakfast that's available to hotel guests. I saw many guests take advantage of this feature. It included three choices of cereal, two choices of toast, one kind of donut, two choices of fresh fruit, milk, juice, and coffee. Keeping in mind this is continental breakfast, I think it was fine. There is a time limit to use this feature; it's not available all morning. It saves time for the parks and I'm all in favor of getting to the parks faster.

There are two sections to this resort, an older section and a newer one. You probably won't get the newer rooms; unless, you pay more. I'm not sure if they will be remodeling the older section now that the other parts have been remodeled. If they do more remodeling then I may have my doubts about staying there until it's complete. We were lucky because it was pretty quiet in that department when we were there. I would call and ask some serious questions if there's more remodeling to be done like to the older section of the resort.

We had free parking; so, we didn't walk to the parks. I did see resorts farther away then this one and the people were walking to the parks. I feel for the price you get good value here.

It's hard except for the Disney proper to find outstanding resorts near the parks. I give this place a B grade.

I didn't like it, I liked it the least of the hotels I have stayed in, on harbor blvd.
It felt dark and gloomy.

it is so easy to get confused as there is a Desert Inn and suites, and a Desert palms inn and suites.........both on harbor blvd

Bette- I think you're talking about Desert Palm that went under renovations. Desert Inn and Suites is right across the crosswalk to DL. I stayed there last Oct. the walls coud be thin. I stayed in a Parlor Suite A. I loved the fact that I could eat in one part of the room and sleep in another. No thoughts of crumbs in my bed. Also DH likes to watch T.V. at night and my DS is a light sleeper...I could close off the parlor. For the price it was a place to stay. Another option is the Best Western Park Place INN just a little more but from reviews seems worth the price. Only problem for me was that there was only a 1/2 wall partition seperating the bedroom from the "parlor" Oh, yeah and Desert Inn has 2 T.V.'s Best Western has only one. If you come in late parking at Desert Inn can be a pain and the pool smells of chlorine and isnt' a pool I would look forward playing in. Hope this helps. There is a guy Marcie there who gives us EXCELLENT service. A hint...if you think you will stay there book quickly the prices change if they know a convention is coming in. You can always cance the ressie...they sell out on many nights.

The original poster mentions Palm in the name of the resort. It's hard to know which one she's meaning here and she hasn't responded since her original post.

Anyway, I'm thumbs up for the one that has the Katella address.

Bete- you're right after rereading the post I realized that it was for the Desert Palm not the Desert inn on Harbor. Sorry
