Hello

Any reviews or opinions of 'The French Menu' set choices for lunch & dinner at Chefs de France in Epcot?

Is this set menu always available?

Did you choose this or were you more tempted by other choices from the menu? It seems good value in looking at the menu on AllEars. I am more tempted by the dinner - but we are on a budget for our meals.

Thoughts welcomed,
Claire

Is the set menu available on the Vacation Lunch certificates or is there a limitation?

Thanks.

We tried the French Menu for dinner during our trip in April. Great value, but make sure you have a hardy appetite. The cost is equal to an entree cost(24.95 approx.), but includes soup and dessert. My DH loved it, all the portions were regular size, we even shared the creme brulee. I have a smaller appetite and found a cup of lobster bisque and salad niscose just right.

If you are on a budget, this is a great way to try a fine dining establishment. This is now a new addition to our must do list.

We did the lunch last December and was it good, filling and worth every penny. Started out with French Onion soup and good crusty bread - excellent. Then came a small salad and grilled ham and cheese (not your American version) - excellent! And then topped it off with creme brulee - excellent! Needless to say we walked away from there stuffed. Can't wait to do it again next trip and also try dinner. Too bad the other countries don't have something like this.

Can someone post a link for this option...it's the first I've heard of it and I'd like to look at the menu! Thanks much!

Go to Deb's site at http://wdwig.com/menu/menu_cdf.htm and click on Epcot, and then Chef's de France. There is a fixed price option on both the lunch menu and the dinner menu. I thought it was a great idea since you see this option all over Paris, also!

Bon Appetit!

Thank you #1 hockey mom...love prix fixe! Although looking at the menu, I would love to try the pate/cheese plate! I love their pate anyway so to have it with french cheese...ooh la la! I can't wait until October!

P.S. Are you in Ontario or Michigan???

and that is where Stevie plays! Michigan, between Detroit and Flint.. small little town. I spend my non-working hours life on the road getting the youngest to hockey rinks!

My DH and I live for escargot. Love the stuff! Ironically, we never had it in Paris! DS and I became brie junkies in Paris; can't get a decent brie in the states, though.

Go Wings!

You must be pretty close to me! Know what you mean about the brie, though. Two I like are Harry & David's...it comes in pastry and you bake it. I also like the brie spread made by Alouette...it really has that nutty-earthy brie flavor.

If you are ever in Novi, go to Diamond Jim Brady's...they make a brie appetizer that is fantastic. They also make a mushroom pate appetizer that is just heavenly. AND on some occasions they make escargot in phyllo pastry appetizers....YUMMY!

Not big into hockey (DH and I are fickle fans) but I sure did miss not having any playoff action this year. Maybe next year, eh? Keep on driving....maybe your DH is the next Stevie or Sergei!

We plan to eat there for the first time next trip and do appetizers. I'm torn and don't want to do too many, but I'm dreaming of escargot, paté&cheese, alsace flatbread, lobster bisque, wine, and creme brulee. mmmmm...

Penny2>> Grew up a "mall brat" when 12 Oaks was brand new! I live north of there, almost out of 248! If you love escargot in philo, try the Holly Hotel. It is ALWAYS on the menu whenever we go. I think that is one of their signature dishes that just doesn't leave the menu!

I will remember the DJ Brady's brie for when we are down in that area. This year's Little Caesar hockey playoffs were partially at the arena in "old town" Novi. The name escapes me right now. The others were in Farmington Hills. I was master direction person for the team since I knew the area, although it has changed a lot and most of the team is from north of Flint!

Laurabelle>> Just do appetizers and desserts! No one is there to say you MUST eat your dinner before dessert! Let us know what you finally chose and how it was!

Hi -

We just had "The French Menu" 2 weeks ago ... it was delicious !
I would definately recommend it. It was a ton of food though, which surprised me. The soup was great and the entree was half a roasted chicken with rosemary served with roasted potatoes and tomatoes. Very moist and tender. Of course the creme brulee was fantastic ! Quite a good value ... enjoy ! ;)

Hi-

This is an interesting thread. We have PS for lunch at Chefs in August. Can you please describe what the ham & cheese sandwich was like? I know that DD9 wants to try some French food and I was thinking we might share that.

Thanks for your help!

Claudia
