Reviews of values freaked me out!

I was just on a review site about different hotels and I looked at some of the reviews on Disney's values hotels and I am mortified! I was not really that nervous about staying in a value until I read some of the reviews! I didn't know for sure if I could post the site I actually went to so I didn't. I just can't believe some of the things that people were saying. Should I believe this site? I have never read anything that bad on the DIS. What do you think? For instance, about the ASMU, people were saying how bad the matresses were and how dirty it was. Also, about Pop, people were saying that the sheets were dirty and there were hairs all over them and the tubs were dirty and the noise level was awful. Is any of this true? I would think that bad things could happen at value or deluxe. What do you think? Would you believe this review site?

I've stayed at AS Sports twice my past two trips and had few complaints. The room didn't seem that dirty to me, then again, we didn't spend a ton of time in there, it was a place to sleep basically while we recharged for park time the next day. But the sheets were fine... no idea on the mattresses, I didn't takes the sheets off to check.

People give bad reviews for every type of resort.

What really scares the bejeezuz out of me is the bedbug stories. That worries me. I'd be thrilled with just going and not having bedbugs.

I have stayed at mostly Values, both Pop and All Stars and have had a great time at both. Now some may have had a bad experience at the values, but I know some have had bad experiences with the mods and deluxes. So I would take those revies with a grain of salt. There have been many more positive reviews then negative reviews!

I always think "you get what you pay for", BUT, for some it doesn't matter and their hotel room is just a place to crash in between parks. ;)

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.
It tends to be quietest of all of the values.
It also has a lot of nice landscaping.

I like the food court at All Star Music for a quick grab and go breakfast on the way to the parks.

I like the fact I can pay for a preferred location and know I will be close to the main pool. food court, and bus stop.

I enjoy the theming at All Star Music. I love seeing the children having fun getting squirted by Three Caballeros (Donald and friends) at the All Star Music pool.

BTW:

All Star Music just underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.

The rooms have been newly painted, new carpet, new furniture, new beds, mattresses, bedspreads, curtains, the bathrooms have a new bowed shower curtain so guests have a little more elbow roomwhen showering.

All Star Music now has the privacy curtain which divides the sleeping area from the vainty area.

All Star Music is only value resort that has this curtain.

I am hoping when the All Star Sports rooms are refurbished between June this year (2007) and Feb. (2008) they will add the privacy curtains to the Sports rooms as well.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Please see my info thread for more of the reasons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I think I know the site you're talking about. Don't even bother reading any further. Some of the reviews there are utterly outlandish. Someone mentioned a review of the GF that made it sound like a rat and roach-infested fleabag motel. Oh, please.

The vast majority of guests at WDW resorts have excellent experiences. In 16 trips over 20 years, I've never once had a room that was less than spotless (including Pop). Sure, you can have a housekeeper having a bad day and miss something, no hotel is perfect. If the room is not up to your standards, simply call the front desk or housekeeping and have them correct it.

Something to keep in mind when reading these review sites....anyone can post anonymously. There's no fact checking. Someone with a grudge, a competitor, or a teenager having fun can make up a review out of thin air.

Read the reviews on this site. The DISers won't steer you wrong. Read reviews in guidebooks. Forget the general hotel review sites.

I think I've had 8 stays at Values since 1998. All of the rooms were nice and clean except once at ASMu in 1999. That room was way over-due for rehab but I was lucky to get a room in WDW as the were only 2 rooms available on-site for that night. I wrote to WDW about it when I got home and received a response I was happy with and I continue to reserve Value hotels. I don't hesitate to reccomend a Disney Value hotel to anyone and have 2 rooms booked for this December, 1 for my family and 1 for my Dad :santa:

we have prob. stayed like 8 or 9 times at the music and movies a few times. we really like the place. we only had a problem with the lockon the safe anda small prob. with the door. every time we checked in the front desk people were always pleasant. our rooms were fine, we even had the suite last summer. that wAS really nice and roomy. im not saying that we never heard noise, but for the most it was fine. we have even stayed right beside the pool, we slept fine. after all the walking we do i guess we just zonk right out. i really like the food court with all the choices. through the years my dds and friends have also liked the choices. we enjoy ourselves . i cant wait to start taking our only grandson, he is only 14 months old right now....................we are already talking about it. please go and have fun. if something comes up , then go tothe front desk and im sure they will of help..........

Lots of those sites don't have very many 'good' reviews for ANY hotel.

I have stayed at ASMu and Pop as well as Coronado Springs. I had no problems or concerns at ANY of these resorts.

But then, I'm a realist. I realize that there might very well be a stray hair in the tub that the housekeeper did not see. I can deal with that. For some that single hair is an indicator that the entire room is 'unclean.'

So much of this is perspective in my book.

Hi,
I think sometimes people go looking for problems just so they can write nasty things...........
Anyway, we've stayed at Sports 2x and Movies once and had no problems. If you go in expecting the Four Seasons, then sure, you will be disappointed. But, if you go in expecting to have a good time, I'm sure you will. Relax and enjoy your trip!

Thanks for all the replies. It does seem though that the negative always seems to stick out more than the positive. I am thinking about Pop or Asmu. I was thinking about the Asmo until I realized that the Asmu had recently be refurbed and had a privacy curtain. I am sure we will have a great time no matter what. We will be at Disney after all.:thumbsup2

I have probably 10 stays at the value resorts, as well as at about 10 stays at moderate and deluxes. I hve never had any major problems with any stay at Disney. The Values can get a bit noisey at times. But I never considered it a problem. You will be fine. Go for POP. It is the newest.:thumbsup2

Just returned from a stay in Music - a family suite - actually very nice for the price - nothing at all wrong with the room! It was near the guitar pool and they played music at night, but it was off by the time we hit the sack.

We have also stayed at Movies two times in the past and never had any issues with the rooms there either.

Our next trip in October we will be staying at Wilderness Lodge, I expect it to be a lot nicer, but get the same thing accomplished - a place to lay our heads at night.

We have stayed at 3 of the values since April of 2006-ASMOVIES, ASSPORTS, and POP. Of them all, I think that Movies had the best housekeeping if that's what you're concerned about. They went above and beyond-every day my son's stuffed animals were waiting for him in the window, and they even washed my baby bottles that I left in the sink to soak one day. The rooms were clean at Sports, but there was nothing extra done to make it special. At POP, I did notice mildew in the bathroom in several places in the bathtub and on the wall.

Lose the freak.....lol....Have stayed at Deluxe and Value....My DD and I loved POP..management and CM's are great...I even wrote a letter to guest services to compliment!!
The 60's pool are is great, there is a lake for nice walks, food court great...yeah room is small...I wouldnt be comfortable with my whole family in there though...alas connecting rooms:) Which we had with my mom...
Anyway...you could find a hair in any bathroom, any hotel...it happens sometimes, doesnt mean the room is dirty!

We only stay at Values and we have never had an issue with any of them. We've stayed at the All Star Sports and at POP. By far POP was the cleanest hotel room we have ever stayed in. The Mousekeepers did a fantastic job! We toyed with the idea of staying in a Moderate on our next visit but decided that it wasn't worth the extra $$ since we've always had great luck with the values.

As everyone else has said you need to take the reviews with a grain of salt. People are always going to find fault with a hotel no matter what level that hotel is. Feel confident in a Value and have a great time!

I stayed at ASMu once and it was spotless. The only unclean room I've ever had at WDW property was at POR, a moderate.

I have only stayed at Values as well and have always had a great experience. Our room is always just a place to sleep and recharge our batteries so they are good for what we need. I am thankful for the values because they allow people who cannot spend as much on a room as others to enjoy Disney as well!!! Maybe one day we will try a Mod or Deluxe, but for now it is Value all the way! BTW, I love the oversize icons. I think they are a lot of fun!!

Yes I am probably worrying for nothing as usual. We will probably stay at a value and it will be fine. My biggest problem should be which one to pick!

We stayed on-site for the first time last October at Pop Century and didn't have one problem. It was always nice and clean. We loved it! Actually, the only problem we had was trying to drag our then 4-year old son out of the arcade :rotfl:. He loves playing the games but didn't realize that there was a lot more to Disney World than just video games .

DH and I enjoyed looking at the memorabilia (sp?) from each decade along the walls in the lobby. Some of the things that were up there, we had as kids. It was a nice walk down memory lane and showing our DS.

We had a towel animal left in our room as well, which our son loved (that can be a hit or miss). We had a standard room in the 50's at the Lady and the Tramp building facing the parking lot. We could even see the fireworks from which ever park was nearby (sorry, I don't recall which one it was ). Overall, though, the area where our room was located was very quiet.

The busses are not shared with any other resort. Which is good.

We're starting our planning for October of 2008 and this time we would like to take my mom along with us. To keep the cost down, we're thinking of staying at Pop again.
