We just arrived home Monday night
We had an awesome stay at the Poly, and used the Magic Plus Dining (Or whatever the official name is). We loved it!! Ordering whatever we wanted (way too much food by the way) without having to take out a wallet--pretty cool! Stopped figuring out money by second night, but we definitely saved a lot!
There were 5 of us. Me, DH and DS (10) were adults, and DS and DD were kids. WE did what lots of others have spoken about. We used the TS credits for the adult meals and paid for the kids meals. That enabled us to go to 6 TS meals instead of the allotted 4. (we stayed 4 nights)
Thursday lunch, Cptn Cook's at Poly. Very good burgers/chicken. Bill would have been $67! We knew we loved this dining plan already!
Thursday night, we ate at Kona at the Poly. Can't give high marks on anything-food or service. The waitress took forever to take our orders, and with two little ones falling asleep at the table, this was not appreciated! My fish was overcooked, as was my DH and DS's steak. Crab cake appet. was delicious though. Would NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant.
Friday we did Crystal Palace buffet at MK. We always enjoy this restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. The fish on the buffet (some sort of lime marinade) was 100 times better than Kona's the night before. Definitely RECOMMEND.
Friday night we did Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. Very fun atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their meal (can't remember specifics), but I know my husband's steak was a LOT better than Kona's. RECOMMEND
Saturday we did Pizzafari at AK. It was good. Had pizzas, Italian sub and I had a delicious Chicken Caesar salad. Yolu receive desserts with all CS meals, so we had GREAT chocolate cake and some sort of apple dessert that was soooo good!
I had ADR's at Le Cellier for that night, but we never made it there. Instead I got a last minute ressie for Spoodles on the Boardwalk. First off, let me say we LOVED the boardwalk. It's small, but they had awesome entertainers there (magicians, jugglers, etc) that my family loved!
Spoodles had delicous food. It was overpriced in my opinion (and I'm from NYC), but again, who cares! We had the dining plan!!! The appetizer of pita bread with dipping sauces was to die for! They bought out about 6 dips. Defiinitely order this one. Again, I don't remember our entrees, but I know we enjoyed them all. For dessert, they had a "make your own sundae". A bowl of ice cream comes out on an artist's palate, and there are little dishes of toppings to add. Very fun for the kids (and good!)
Sunday, we ate CS lunch at ABC commisary. Good burgers and a spacious dining area. For dinner, we had Fantasmic ressies at Mama Melrose. Now, we're Italian and from NYC, and this restaurant was more of the "olive garden" Italian variety. It was good, but not great. Don't expect "real Italian" dining if you're used to that sort of cooking. I had a chicken pasta dish that was really tasty. The kids pizza looked like it was on a pita (I think they call it flatbread). Had been to Brown Derby in the past, but it takes 2 dining credits on the plan, so we tried Mama's. I don't think I'd go back. It's o.k.
Monday, character breakfast at Ohana. Would NOT do again. I thought it would be a cool ending to the trip, but if I had to pay for it out of pocket, I would have been annoyed--Rip off!! A small dish of fresh fruit, a basket with pineapple bread and a few rolls, and a skillet of sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes. You can keep asking for more, but for the price, I felt it wasn't worth it. We had seen all the characters already in the park (Mickey, Pluto, Stitch and Lilo). Oh yeah, characters were VERY ACCESSIBLE this trip. Disney is doing a great job in the parks making it easy to see all your favorites. NOT RECOMMENDED (Ohana bkfast).
That's all folks. Ask away....
