I'm looking at all of the menus, trying to book our meals in Epcot. We'll have two TS meals to do that day. This one looks good. Anyone eaten there? Is it kid friendly? Any other suggestions for parents of picky eaters? Thank you! :wave2:

GREAT atmosphere, so-so food. If you not a "mexican food afficienado" you will probably be okay with the food. If you are particular about your Mexican food, you might be disappointed. But it is LOVELY inside.

The theme is that you are dining "outdoors" on a patio at night. There is a river next to the patio and across the river is a pyramid and a volcano. The volcano does make noise. I like the atmosphere, but the volcano scared dd when she was small. It is one of the more popular restaurants so make ADRs if you can.

You will get mixed reviews here. I enjoyed my meal, a bit spicy but good, DH however did not enjoy his. His steak was tough. DD did not care for her meal. The desserts were only ok. DD however who LOVES icecream ordered the kids make-your-own sundae, but wouldn't eat it. I decided to taste her icecream to find out why and it was awful :crazy2: So, for our house, DH said "never again". However, I feel it's worth trying. The atmosphere alone is great!

Its because we are mexican food afficienado's" that we like the place. No, it is not as spicy as a real taqueria but it is still good food and the stuff you get at your local mexican place usually is tex-mex.

Go for the Sope (appetizers) and the Sopa (tortilla soup) they are as good there as i have had at a mexican family friends house.

they have the burriotos and stuff, IMHO but the best items are there specials

I love the ambiance of San Angel. It is really cool having a margarita by a pyramid. That being said the food wasn't my favorite. However, I was looking for a taco or a burrito and more of the stuff on the menu wasn't was I was expecting. It was pretty good though. I would go back though becasue it is a really neat place! :goodvibes

Great Great Great!!! One of our favorite spots in all of WDW...like others have said the ambiance is fantastic, our food has always been really good and it's just a great place to kick back relax and have a good meal. :wave2:

I love San Angel Inn! I would like to second the Sopa Azteca! We shared it and each wished we had our own. Yum! Very authentic and homemade tasting. We also had some kind of grilled fish that came with rice, ranchero sauce and cactus strips. (It was one of the Chef's suggestions) It was one of the two best fish dishes I've ever eaten in my life. YUM! The exterior of the fish was crisp and flavorful and the inside was white, mild and flaky. Perfect. And the margaritas were outstanding, too!

I'd recommend appetizers and a beverage only. the food is very plain and we didn't get any special "kick" from the menu at all. The environment is wonderful: the boat ride is very relaxed and we do it a few times in the heat of the day. We love strolling around the marketplace and listening to the marachi band. Wish I could say more about the food, but in all the years we've been there--off and on trying it, we have never found anything they did really well. :confused3

Ok the food is not perfecto but it is very good. The chicken mole was wonderful and the Sopa Azteca is too. The queso fundito is good too and we know it is not authentic but it is closer to real Mexico than Tex Mex or what passes for Mexican food in the US. The atmosphere is wonderful but the real winner is the server. These are genuine Mexicans and love to talk about their country. Just ask where they are from and be prepared for a delightful conversation. We were there many years ago when there was an earthquake in Mexico City and the waiter got a phone call that his family was OK. Now that is up close and personal.

I agree with most of the other posters here - the food is ok, but the atmosphere is awesome. My husband and I ate at San Angel for the first time last weekend and it was just ok for us. It's so pretty inside and the service was outstanding, but the food just wasnt that exciting. I got the Carne Asada and my steak was very chewy and fatty. My husband got the Plato Mexicano and he liked it, but it wasn't as good as meals that we've had at some of the other countries in Epcot. I would maybe go back for margaritas and nachos.

I also agree, the food is not the best mexican you'll ever have but the atmoshpere is outstanding! Enjoy!
