I would love to hear from someone who has recently eaten at RRT! How does the experience compare to AP? anyone have an updated menu? I liked the menu from Scotts trip (blog) but it seems as if there is a new less interesting menu.

We sailed the Magic in August. For a 6 nt or longer cruise, they split the show into 2. 1st night is the 'Thug' Menu and the thugs celebrate Rapunzels birthday. 2nd night is the 'Lantern' menu and they do the Lantern festival--Rapunzel, Flynn, kings men. It is a live show, very interactive--thugs, Rapunzel, Flynn, coming to the tables. There's singing, minstrel music, etc. I'd say it's better than Animator's Palate.

Your menu would be slightly different for Thug night--all our menus had 'regional' specialties

If it's a 4 night and you were there once, do you know which menu it would be?

We did a 4 night in April. It was the "lantern menu". We LOVED Rapunzel's. It was our final night dining room, and we were really glad it was. It really was a highlight and it was nice to end the trip on such a highlight. The theming is great, the show is fun, and the food is really good. Completely different from AP. I enjoyed both, although Rapunzel's had food that was more to my liking.

We had the lantern menu in April and were generally happy with the food. The Flynn Rider platter is an insane amount of food. The different cuts of meat were all tasty though. The Maximus salad plate is all vinaigrette based, not mayo. In a good way. The Black Forest tower was dry and didn’t have much chocolate flavor.

We were on the Magic this summer and loved Rapunzel's. We were on the 10 night so we got to eat there 3 times. We liked the 2 nights of the Rapunzel show. I have pictures and menus in my trip report below.

She was on our cruise too. We saw her quite a bit. In fact she was the first character we saw on the ship. She was in the lobby when we boarded. She was very sweet.

We had that same Rapunzel too and she is GREAT! Very smiley and actually channels the personality of cartoon Rapunzel very well.

To return to the OP’s question, our entire family (self, DH, son-8 and daughter-11) LOVED the restaurant- it was a highlight of our trip. Very fun!!

Just a reminder here to keep the discussion on topic. I have deleted quite a few posts that went off topic here, and while I tried to let everyone know, I may have missed some. So, if your post was deleted it was because it addressed an issue that should not be addressed here. If you would like to repost your Rapunzel pictures or reply to the OP's question feel free. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. :thumbsup2

I wish they would combine the dessert menus on the cruises where there is only Lantern Night. Only the Thug Night menu has a gluten-free dessert offering. (I know I can always get a Mickey bar, but it’s nice to not have to resort to those all the time.)

We recently came off the British isles cruise and got to experience Rapunzels. Both DH and I thought it was some of the best food in the MDRs and the show/characters were engaging especially to our 2 year old. Compared to APbwe liked the food here more. I would give AP a slight win for show over Rapunzels but both were great.
Btw - thanks to the mod for cleaning this up - we found this Rapunzel fantastic.

We were on the last Norwegian Fjords cruise that disembarked on 9/2. It was our 4th time on the Magic, and our first time at Rapunzel's. I liked the change from Carioca's, which we always found a little strange and disjointed. That said, it was loud and dark, and the only place our aunt and uncle (seasoned cruisers on Royal and first time on Disney) had any complaints about--they found it strange. (They loved AP and Lumieres.) Menus were good, overall, and that same uncle who didn't love the restaurant itself found the "lantern" menu to be the best of the week.

All in all, I liked the change, but it is a little Tangled overload on the Magic. The Wonder is a bit more even, as there is Tiana's (now my favorite on any of the ships), but the big mainstage show is Frozen. Having the show, the restaurant, and the adults' area takeover stuff all Rapunzel is a lot.

Can you please explain the adult area takeover?

I agree with this. I like how the Wonder has the dinner show but it is different than the stage show.

Will they tell you in the navigator if it is "thug" night or "lantern" night earlier that day? I have snuggly duckling t-shirts for my family for thug/pub takeover night and a flynn ryder costume for my son for Lantern night so I am hoping I will know in advance!

Thug night is first. Lantern night is their "finale", so it comes second. They also sell lantern sippers that night.
