Great stay in a 2BR lockoff deluxe villa at Fairfield Orlando at Cypress Palms Resort. We didn't expect to like it so much! Staff was very friendly, helpful, efficient. Rooms were spotless, in excellent condition with every amenity we expect at a top Gold Crown timeshare resort. The grounds were beautifully maintained, a real treat with the winter we've had back home.

Relaxing at the pool, we were surrounded by lush green, flowering foliage while listening to softly piped music. There was a good mix of sun and shade at both pools, with gas grills and picnic tables nearby. The centrally located playground was mostly covered overhead, so it could be used in both rain & hot summer sun - looked nice for younger children.

Since it was a lockoff, it was really like 2 1BR condos connected by an interior set of doors. Some of their 2BR deluxe condos are regular 2BRs (king MBR suite, 2nd BR w/2 double beds).

The larger 1BR part of our condo was huge, pretty and very comfortable with all the big, deluxe amenities - full kitchen opening to a great room w/dining area and LR, screened balcony w/2 patio chairs, etc. Loved the oversized walk-in shower in the main bathroom. The jacuzzi at the far end of the MBR was a large oval shape, bigger than a single, smaller than a true double. The dining table was fine for 6+ people. The LR sofa was enormous, U-shaped, comfortable. Nice view of manicured courtyard and pool from our room.

The smaller 1BR side had a kitchen with mostly smaller appliances along a wall of the small den w/sleeper sofa and dinette for 4. The standard hotel-style bathroom in this half had a regular combo tub/shower and commode. The sink area was in a wide hallway between the den and the BR.

BOTH 1BR sides had their own of all of the following features:
* 25" TV w/remote, videocassette player & CD/audiotape/stereo
* comfortable MBR king bed & TV w/remote
* plenty of closet space and dresser drawers
* lots of towels, incl pool towels
* stacked washer/dryer in hall closet w/starter detergent
* range/oven, microwave, dishwasher w/detergent fridge/freezer
(icemaker inside), toaster, coffee maker, plenty of dishes,
stainless cookware, nonstick frypan, tupperware, etc.

We didn't need double of all those appliances but the kids thought it was cool having their own small kitchen. Don't know how comfy the sleeper sofas were as we didn't use them (the king beds were comfortable). We brought a $9 switch from Wal-Mart to hook up a Gamecube to one of the TVs.

The check-in building contained a Members' Lounge with a large screen TV and a complimentary computer for guests to use online for 30 minute intervals. Near the front desk, a coffee machine
dispensed (for guests) free coffee, decaf, cappucino, latte, hot chocolate and hot water for tea. There were a few vending machines for snacks and sodapop. Near the first floor of every resort elevator, there were other machines (ice, sodapop, newspapers, etc.).

Across the resort, the Activity Center offered free coffee in the mornings and free popcorn for guests throughout the day. Board games for all ages were available for free loan, as well as floating tubes and noodles for the pool. There was a list of scheduled activities, some for a fee, through the "Get Out and Play" program: macramé, painting, beads, foam art, tie dye, glass etching, soap/candle making, t-shirts, suncatchers, ice cream social, wine & cheese, movie night, Kids Night Out (Wed.), bingo, pool games, fitness walks, scavenger hunt, karaoke, trivia, mini-golf tourney at Disney, etc. The gathering room had a bigscreen TV, a table tennis set up and a half dozen large tables for group activities. The smaller game room w/arcade games was very limited. Videos could be rented via a machine near the activities desk.

There are no unique pool features and it's a fairly small resort, which both go against our usual preferences for a timeshare. However, we really enjoyed our vacation and found the resort to be very guest-friendly. It was quiet when we wanted quiet, attractive inside and out and offered enough diversions for all of our time away from the theme parks with 2 adults and a couple of teenagers. Every room is within a very short walk to a nice, heated, landscaped, freeform pool with a hot tub.

Plenty of restaurants within a short drive or even reasonable walking distance in good weather - Cracker Barrel, Macaroni Grill, Chili's, Pizzaria Uno's and Krispy Kreme. We definitely look forward to returning!!!

This sounds a lot like the condo we stayed at in 2000, the Parkview. I loved it. We had a wonderful time there, and lots and lots of room.
We are renting a Villa this trip. No way we can stay in a hotel room with two 18yr olds. Did I mention I loved all the space.

Thanks, Lisa P. for such detailed info on this resort!! I've seen it coming up with availability from time to time on various websites and wondered how it stacks up against some of the larger resorts we hear more about. It sounds great! Quick question...you mention it's near a Cracker Barrel restaurant...would that be the one across the street from the giant "orange gift shop" on 192 (east of WDW)? I'm trying to get an idea of where this resort is located. How long did it take you to get to WDW and which route did you take?

TIA! :D

Hi!

We are Fairfield Vacation owners and always stay at either Cypress Palms or Star Island (which is located about 1/2 mile E from Cypress palms on 192).

I can answer your question about location. Yes, it is located across from the "Big Orange" on 192...there's even a secret back way into the resort right there!

When we go to Disney we leave from Iowa City, Iowa and drive straight through with only stops for gas and to stretch at some of the reststops. LOL We go so often we know exactly where to get the cheapest gas and our trip is pretty much a piece of cake! It takes us 19 hours of actual driving time if we don't decide to stop for anything extra. (I can hardly wait to get to the resort and unpack for a couple of weeks...it's truly home away from home for me...I've stayed as long as 5 weeks at a stretch)

We're really looking forward to Fairfield's opening the ONLY NON DISNEY RESORT ACTUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF DISNEYWORLD! It's true...it's scheduled to open this summer. It's located right next to Disney's Carribbean Beach Resort and will be Fairfield's neatest resort ever since they are planning to really make it a Disney Deal! We bought 500,000 points in this resort last Christmas so we can do a lot of vacationing there. lol I'll have to do a trip report when we actually go for the first time...I want to wait until the whole resort is up and running full steam, but I think we might get invited to try it out this summer...we'll see!

The night we bought our points we went to Pepper Market at Coronado Springs over in Disney to celebrate...we were using Quick and Casual vouchers of course...and a man and his daughter were sitting at the table next to ours. He asked me where I got my vouchers (he had gotten his from the internet)...we got to talking and I told him about the new Fairfield resort and gave him the number of the person who helped us get our points there...and to make a long story short, he called and went over the next day and bought points there so he could go too! He said he almost bought a DVC package, but after seeing them both he couldn't believe the value dollar for dollar! (We know, we've checked out DVC too)...anyway, I was so surprised when he wrote and said he had bought too! (we had given each other our e-mail addresses) LOL...it's sure a strange world!

I love Disney but we go so much and stay so much, no way am I going to pay those Disney Resort prices. What can I say? I love a bargain!

It really made me smile when I saw that you found the KrispyKreme donut place by Cypress Palms...our girls are in X-country and track so when we went the summer before last they got up each morning with David (my DH) and ran. During their travels they spied this and it has become their favorite treat place ever since...Their favorite thing to do in the morning when we're there now is to ensure that they get over for a hot glazed donut right off the presses!...after they run of course. My favorite is that new key lime pie filled one...mmmmm I'm getting hungry for one right now! Too bad it's 1,382 miles away!

Thanks for the info, Ozymoe! I will definitely put this resort on my list of possibles for our next trip. :)

I'm trying to get an idea of where this resort is located. How long did it take you to get to WDW and which route did you take?

If you are asking which route we took between the FF resort and WDW, we usually just went down 192 & followed the signs. It's not far at all (as stated above, the back entrance is directly across from the big orange, the side street bordering Cracker Barrel). Usually, we exited the resort through the front entrance because that side street intersects with 192 at a traffic light. So turning left onto 192 toward Disney is easier there. It took us under 10 minutes to reach the parking lots at the Disney parks.

It was a very easy, short drive, since the roads were widened, no traffic problems at all. We especially liked the ease of stopping along the way for an inexpensive meal or treat. Dunkin Donuts (great coffee!) & Baskin Robbins are along that short stretch, as well as Krispy Kreme and many others. :)

Ozymoe,

What will this new resort be called? I cannot find any info on it. I would love to hear more about it. Thanks!

It's called Fairfield at Bonnet Creek. If you go over that way you can see the signs. We went over after we bought to see the actual construction and just the main clubhouse and the first building are completely done but several more are under construction. It's going to be wonderful! I can hardly wait!

Have you ever stayed at a Fairfield resort? We have mostly stayed at Cypress Palms and Star Island in Kissimmee because of their proximity to DisneyWorld, but I've also stayed at one in Atlanta and one in Branson. Our family will be staying at one in California (Dolphin's Cove) this summer as well as one in Las Vegas (Desert Sands I think it's called) and one in Arizona (Angelfire). Fairfield resorts are all Gold Crown resorts so they have all been really really nice with terrific staff. (we think Cypress Palms has the best of all the ones we've been at so far)

I'm not sure how much inventory they have for Bonnet Creek. When we bought only so much was being released per week. I don't think they're advertising this much (if at all) because the demand is so great. I think the only way to find out about this is through Fairfield owners, although I could be wrong about that. I myself have never seen it advertised even through Fairfield. We found out about it by getting an update tour at our resort...which we always do at least twice a year. LOL We know several of the sales staff by name...and we always go to the "updates". They give us free or inexpensive tickets every time...last time we got 5 Arabian Nights tickets for$55. Now that was a night out our 3 teens loved as much as we did!
